2.3 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to read independently for information

and enjoyment.

(i) Match at least five antonyms correctly to the five highlighted words in the story “The Hare and the

Tortoise.”

(ii) Answer five comprehension questions orally by referring to the story entitled “The Hare and the

Tortoise.”

(iii) Rearrange the sentence strips in the correct order based on the picture given.

1. Teacher shows a short video clips

on the story entitled “The Hare and

The Tortoise.”

2. Pupils are to watch the video and

identify the animals that they see in

the video.

3. Teacher asks several questions to

the pupils.

4. Pupils answer the questions

orally.

5. Teacher links the activity to the

topic of the day.

five.

one paragraph from the story.

4. Pupils are required to match the

correct antonyms to the highlighted

words in the text.

Mini Book Project

1. Teacher divides the pupils into

groups of five.

2. Each group is to get five coloured

papers.

3. Teacher shows the pupils on how

to make a mini book.

4. Each pupil is required to make

their own mini book.

5. Teacher gives each group two

envelopes that contain pictures

taken from the story and sentence

strips.

6. Pupils are to paste the pictures as

instructed by the teacher.

7. Teacher asks pupils to find

rearrange the sentence strips and

match them with the suitable picture.

8. Pupils are required to decorate

their mini book.

Poison Ball Game

1. Teacher plays a song and passes

the poison ball to a random pupil.

2. When the music stops, the pupil

who holds the ball needs to answer

the question written on the board.
