Altogether, staff has more than 100 years of experience in the insurance business, led by broker Bonnie Malofy, who has worked for Parry Sound Insurance for more than 30 years. “I have the best staff to service the public, probably the best I know of,” Garagan said. “And Neil is a great guy, a really outgoing community-oriented person. That’s why I think he was chosen. He’s well known in the community. If you’re looking for a volunteer, you ask him, he’ll probably say yes.” Parry Sound Insurance, at 7 William Street, offers a wide range of insurance services, covering home, auto, life and commercial products. New products include identity theft coverage. “You know how easy it is for someone to grab a bank statement off the ground or steal your credit card number,” Garagan said. “It’s well worth the investment with all the identity theft that’s out there.” Parry Sound Insurance has served the area for more than 45 years. Garagan has owned and operated the business since 1996. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., five days a week. PARRY SOUND INSURANCE 397386 T he manager of the Parry Sound Sears outlet attributes customer service and selection to his business’ 2008 Readers’ Choice Award as the best place to purchase an appliance. “I think we have the best service by far,” said franchise owner Chris McEwen. “And one way or another, we always get the problem resolved if there’s an issue. We deliver anytime they need it and we stand by our products. If there are any issues, we’ll replace the product. The store also offers a “huge selection” of appliances, offering almost every brand, either on display in the store’s Parry Sound showroom or available within days through catalog orders. “I just started running the store in the last few years and I’ve been working hard to provide the best customer service,” said Mr. McEwen, who took over the family business two years ago. The Sears outlet has been owned and operated by his family for 14 years. The store also offers a huge selection of electronics and lawn and garden tools and small engines – with most brand names available, including Samsung, Sony and Husqvarna. This year, the store features an expanded and renovated showroom to include more display products and a user-friendly layout. “Now we actually carry more and we’re getting a lot of compliments, people saying ‘wow, what a difference’,” said Mr. McEwen. “We’ve added more brands than the other competitors.” The store now also carries a display of mattresses, bedding and box springs, among numerous other products on display. Also new this year, are a number of staff members. The outlet now has four new employees, joining Mr. McEwen and one existing salesperson. “I think they’ve done a wonder ful job and definitely helped in making us number one,” he said. Sears, at 7A Mall Drive, near the Parry Sound Mall, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
