With this, the children earn money not only for themselves, but for their families as well. This situation not only highlights the fact that illegal logging is a prevalent issue nowadays, but also that young children are being exploited to take a part in it as well. In the film, the children risk their lives, travelling along stream for at least four days using a small raft, just to transport the logs for a couple of hundreds of of pesos. The movie Brutus was about little children living within the forests being used in

transporting ilegally logged tree parts to the city. With this, the children earn money not

only for themselves, but for their families as well. This situation not only highlights the fact

that illegal logging is a prevalent issue nowadays, but also that young children are being

exploited to take a part in it as well.

In the film, the children risk their lives, travelling along stream for at least four days using a

small raft, just to transport the logs for a couple of hundreds of of pesos. The children are

also taught to avoid forest rangers at all costs, which is very ironic as adults are the ones

teaching these children such wrong things. The children aren’t only in danger of natural

circumstances such as storms, but they might also be caught in between the battle of the

NPA (New People’s Army) with the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines). Overall, these

children should be studying in school, and learning, instead of working these dangerous

jobs.

It is ironic, as we say that the children are the future, but these children are being exploited

in such a way that they themselves are causing the destruction of their future. We ust act

on this situation, and save the children and the trees in the process as well.
