Gen X: Who would know what exam pressure is better than a student? A science student who wants nothing more than a night of blissful sleep but can't as exams are approaching and its very disrespectful for the parents if their child cannot get a medical seat. But what if the student never wanted to do medicine? What if he wanted to do photography? But he couldn't as his parents didn't approve of it as a respectable career. Sometimes exam pressure doesn't build if the student hasn't

studied, sometimes its due to the lack of interest or even suffocation the student feels in the subject. Parents need to understand that we are mature enough to decide what we like and what we want to pursue. Maybe the parents are right in their way, but whatever happened to experience? What if I as a student wanted to experience my studies? Try my options before I settle with the best. Agreed it may spoil a few years of my life. But I would gain a life time worth of experience in return. Haven't we seen enough student suicides? If scoring a 90 is not enough for parents then what is?! maybe that's the reason a student would prefer killing themselves than facing their parents with a mere 90%. According to me, such parents should be made to write board exams with 90% passing marks. Let's see how they cope up with the pressure. Every year the board experiments in a new way with the children's lives. The online system left many stranded the first year. The assessment pattern was changed the next year. The students didn't know what to give more importance to. This year some new method is being tried out which has left average and below average students in a lurch. Instead of soothing the students it creates exam pressure. The only way of fighting it is studying well in advance. It does sound cliche but its the truth. If you can't handle the pressure take breaks. Take walks. Talk to a friend on the phone about everything but studies. And always be proud of what you've achieved. Never compare yourself to anyone else.
