Thank You Steps for Students Participants and Supporters! You helped to make the 12th Annual Steps for Students a record-breaking race!

This year’s event had over 12,500 people participate in the race, and together all school communities and sponsors raised over $840,000 for Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. So far SMMCS has raised over $4,000, plus the registration fees! We should know our total amount raised sometime in March. Steps for Students donations can still be made through the Steps for Students website until tomorrow, Friday, February 24th! So continue to invite everyone to support your school team!

Thank you again for your support of St. Mary Magdalene and of Catholic Education as a whole!

We look forward to seeing you at the 13th Annual Steps for Students event in 2018!

5TH GRADE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT ENDS TUESDAY

February is the 5th Grade Class Service Project Month. We have chosen to work with a non-profit organization called

HeartGift Foundation. HeartGift Foundation brings children from around the world for free to correct life-threatening congenital

heart defects. Since its founding, HeartGift has treated more than 200 children from over 30 countries.

We will be focusing on helping with the arrival of a baby from Malawi that is scheduled to arrive at the end of this month.

Here are the three ways that our students will be able to help and have some hands-on activities.

Part 1: We are collecting items to assemble welcome bags for the baby and mother that are coming at the end of February. Part 2: Students are making welcome signs to be used at the airport to greet the baby and mother arriving from Malawi. Part 3: Students are making Get Well cards on their own and work with students in the younger grades to create over 300 cards total from our entire school.

SPRING PICTURES will be taken next Friday!

Packets have been sent home. All ordering infor-mation should be in the packet, but if you have

questions, please contact Ms. Sam.

Students are welcome to wear their Spring “Sunday Best.”

Our Middle School students portrayed the ten plagues using an edible representation symbolizing

each day of the ten plagues during Religion.

5th grade takes time to work with our

Kindergarten classes to make cards for

children facing heart surgery.
