The K-PREP results are in… #1 JCPS school and #1 school in the entire state of KY (there are 1,990)! Students and staff were given the challenge to “Beat It” (last year’s score) and they certainly did. The entire School Report Card can be viewed at http://applications.education.ky.gov/src/. Below is a breakdown of the % proficient/distinguished by content area: Reading Math Social Writing Language Studies Mechanics 3rd: 89.4% 91.5% ---- ---- ---- 4th: 96.3% 95.4% ---- ---- 95.5% 5th: 92.9% 96.4% 96.5% 92.2% ---- 3rd-5th: 93.1% 94.7% We enjoyed celebrating our #1 ranking. Each proficient/distinguished student was individually recognized during our assembly, and all students received a “Beat It” bracelet compliments of the Singer family (Boone-2nd grade, Mrs. James). Be sure to check out our K-PREP recognition wall located just outside restrooms in the intermediate hallway. From the PTA President, Andrea Scholtz
Dear Greathouse Families,
It’s hard to believe that this is the November/December issue of The Lion’s Tale! This is
a combined issue and we will resume single month issues after the holidays in January.
I would like to take this time to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our wonderful
Greathouse families who supported our PTA Fundraiser! Thank you for all of your donations
to make our Fun Run and Carnival successful! I also want to say THANK YOU to Stephanie
Gumer and Amber Able, the PTA Fundraising Chairs, who worked tirelessly for months to
make the fundraiser so awesome! Most of you don’t realize, but these two ladies started
planning for our fundraiser last spring and have been working for hours and hours to plan a
successful and fun event. I also want to say THANK YOU to Brittney Bolyard, PTA First Vice
President, who helped Stephanie and Amber every day during the collection period by
counting all of the money and helping to distribute prizes. Without the hard work of these
three ladies, and the many other volunteers that helped out during the week and a half of
our fundraiser, we would not be able to do what we do!! THANK YOU!!
I will be back with a full report of the money raised in January once the dust settles,
but it looks like we have met our goal this year and we are excited to be able to still support
all of the wonderful events that we do for the kids at Greathouse! Coming up in the next sev-
eral months, we are looking forward to Visions Screenings, PTA Skating Party, Class Holiday
Parties, Teacher Holiday Luncheon, Fit Lit Night, Spelling Bee, Talent Show, Career Week, and
many more events and programs that keep the PTA busy every month at Greathouse.
As always, if you are looking to get more involved in our school, please reach out to me
and let me know. Believe it or not, we start looking for event and program chairs in the next
several months and we would love to get more parents involved!
As I sign off for this month, I would like to take this time to wish you and your family a
very Happy Holiday season and a fun and relaxing time off from school!
See you in 2017!!
Andrea Scholtz
Greathouse PTA President

This is a great way to get involved and make a big difference at our school!
Great job, everyone! Thanks to all the Box Tops you turned in, our school will receive a check from Box Tops For Education™ for $1,081. Our goal for the year is $2,500. Keep the Box Tops coming in! Remember, you can use the collection sheet at the back of the newsletter to keep track of your clips and send them in through your child’s backpack. Every Box Top helps us get closer to our goal!
