Component levelDesign and manufacture of:• HV Power Distribution Unit• CAN Instrument Cluster Interface• Climate Control Unit• Battery Interface Module• Battery HV Junction Box• Battery contactor economiser
Electronic DesignHardware design for all volumes – concept to production
• Specification development• Schematic capture• Design FMEA including safety analysis• EMC & production testing considered from outset of program• Simple to complex bespoke designs• Multilayer PCB design• High voltage / current design• Design & configuration control• Manufacturing ranging from one off parts up to medium volumes• Altium Designer PCB design with full mechanical design export
Embedded SoftwareFull Software lifecycle - concept definition through to acceptance sign-off:• Hazard analysis and development of safety plans• Software architecture design and requirements capture• Verification and validation planning• Software quality assurance• Configuration management
Applications:• Safety critical systems• Low-level serial / CAN boot-loaders• Signal interfacing / conversion• Communications - UDS / gateways• Complex system control across networked architectures
Mechanical DesignWe have both 2D and 3D CAD mechanical design capabilities• We have multiple seats of CATIA V5
and AutoCad for mechanical component designs
• We have multiple seats of VeSys Design for harness components
• Our PCB design package is fully integrated with our M-CAD systems
We have demonstrated capabilities in:• Sealed enclosure design• Air / liquid cooled designs• Sand-cast, high pressure die-cast,
injection moulded, machined and stamped parts
• Low volume prototyping
Case Study – HV Battery Interface Module Design
As the result of an urgent request from acustomer we designed a Battery Interface Module incorporating CAN gateway. The unit separated the battery CAN system from the main vehicle CAN, and provided control over contactors and other battery interface features.• Bespoke hardware to production
intent standard – reverse battery, ESD protection, EMC countermeasures
• OEM specification CAN hardware layer with full EMC / ESD protection
• Test box and prototype hardware delivered to software engineer within 4 weeks.
• Software was written in MISRA C• The project was delivered in 10
weeks
We developed this high voltage power distribution unit for the prototype phase of an OEM customers electric vehicle. It included:• Component hardware and software
specification• Distribution of all vehicle HV power, HV pre‐
charge, main contactor switching, control, fusing and switching of low current HV consumers
• 1kW DC/DC converter• Bespoke PTC Heater control with over‐
current protected output circuits and open circuit detection
• Isolation testing• Charging system switching• Protection for AC compressor switching• Up to 600V working voltage• >2400V isolation to 12V power system• High insulation / µA leakage• Bespoke enclosure with >IP67 protection• First parts were delivered to or customer 12
weeks from receipt of order
