Packaged Solutions is the new approach that the software industry is leaning
towards.
The success of such an approach can already been seen by the success of BAiO.
Packaged Solutions help bridging customer segments and drive mass adoption.

SAP Rapid Deployment solutions are targeted to drive profitable volume with a 1:1
ratio of software:services cost ratio.
In alignment with the Implementable Steps approach, a SAP Rapid Deployment
solution addresses a bite-size chunk customer requirement on the way to incrementally expanding footprint and value.
Examples with Wave 1 include Rapid Deployment Solutions that help our customers with defined, fast and easy first steps into solution areas like CRM and
Procurement
Addressing the respective customer requirement, the SAP Rapid Deployment
solution enables fast implementation of defined SAP Best Practice processes by
providing a ready-to-consume combination of products, pre-configuration,
services, and content
It comes in one contract at a fixed price, allowing for fast time to value (< 3
months), low TCI (at least 40% lower compared to traditional delivery), allowing for
ROI in 6 months.
10
-
The SAP Rapid Deployment solution includes all SAP software components
needed to address the business need.
Software License and Service price included in the SAP Rapid Deployment
solution price
For example, for the CRM Sales Rapid Deployment Edition, the SAP CRM software and necessary licenses in line with the package scope are included in the
package price.
As the respective real SAP Business Suite components build the foundation for the package, customers can later grow their scope and value incrementally.
11
-
The SAP Rapid Deployment solution includes configuration content for pre-defined
SAP Best Practice processes addressing a business need.
This is based on the proven Business All in One methods and tools.
Content is consumable both via SAP Solution Builder and SAP Solution Manager:
SAP Solution Manager provides configuration content, such as process
descriptions etc.
SAP Solution Builder delivers pre-configuration content, such as BC Sets
Implementation accelerators automate implementation tasks that traditionally
would have to be done manually and thereby help to further lower TCI and risk
12
-
Ready-to-go GTM assets to accelerate the sales process are part of the SAP
Rapid Deployment solution
This includes Sales Assets for positioning the package to the customers buying center, flash demos, and detailed presentations for engaging with the customers project team and end-users.
In addition, training material available for fast up-skilling of consultants and
partially for project members.
13
-
The productized service comes at a fixed price related to the business scope of
the solution package as integral part of the Package
It includes a SAP Rapid Deployment solution specific iterative implementation
methodology, service material and accelerators to quickly converge on customer
requirements and streamline the implementation
Quick scrum-like interaction with business end-users is an important aspect of the
deployment method to ensure the implementation is on the mark.

The Packaged approach of software and predefined services allows the customer
to go live fast and to be efficient
The predefined services are of fixed price.
They adhere to the RDS Methodology and make use of the pre- configured
content through the Ready to use Accelerators.
16
-
It is important to note that, SAP Rapid Deployment Solutions are implemented
using a specific RDS metholodolgy, which drastically cuts down the
implementation time.
The blueprinting phase in RDS methodology is completely eliminated as, the
scope of every RDS is very precise and SAP/Partner do not follow an exploratory
approach to scope and requirements specification , in the fashion it is conducted
for normal projects that run on the ASAP methodology. This results in 100 %
savings with respect to the blueprinting stage.
In the test phase, having an upfront knowledge of the scenarios that are allowed
to be configured, as part of each RDS scope, creating and packaging these test
plans in advance also is a time saving technique.
17
-
Key Principles that have been used to build and package RDS packages have
been listed here.
These principle challenge the perception that SAP is complex and time consuming
to deploy and use
18
-
Certain and valid assumptions have been taken in to account , that are applicable for
90 % of all Rapid Deployment Solutions
19
-
The Work Break Down Structure is a logical connection flow to the various assets of
the Master BoM and in the order of their consumption through the course of the RDS
Methodology or an RDS project.
20
-
The RDS Master BoM is a master collection of all service assets and project
accelerators, that is used internally by SAP Consulting .
The BoM is split into 5 different cluster as shown.
Excluding the SAP Internal documents, the rest are made available to Partners through the purchase of SAP Partner Service Enablement
RDS Accelerators from the Master BoM are linked to the RDS Implementation
Methodology in a logical fashion
21
-
The Step by Step Guide is a central tool and one stop shop for all Service
execution related assets.
The Service assets in the Step by step guide are arranged in a logical fashion (
mirroring the RDS Methodology), so that the consultant can directly consume the
assets in the order they are listed .
22
-
The step-by-step Guide is the backbone for the RDS Implementation
methodology. All the key accelerators are clustered along the lifecycle of a
project as you can see here. From the Discovery Phase to the Run Phase.
We will be able to step-by-step implementation the solution and allow at
least a 40% time and effort reduction compared to similar scope of
traditional project.
For standard partners, we currently do not deliver an SBS guide that includes the
Discover phase

There are 3 versions of the Step by Step Guide
Preview version It provides a sneak preview, in the form of screen shots to the Step by Step Guide
Standard version It provides access to all free assets of the standardized range of assets and is available for all customers and partners.
Service Enablement version - It provides access to both free and paid assets the complete Step by Step Guide. This is avialable only for Partners and
customers who have purchased the SAP Partner Service Enablement Package.
24
-
A comparative study of the three versions of the Step by Step guide has been
described here
25
-
The Step-by-Step guide can also be downloaded via SMP
These assets are either free of charge or available through the RDS Partner
Service Enablement Package ( Service Assets for Partners ).
You will find here some key assets such the Work-Breakdown-structure which
allow you to define tasks, schedule and effort estimate.
All these assets are representing a significant investment and are used in all
projects done by SAP Consulting.
