Our new student leaders have adopted a “Portfolio” model for 2012. This model gives each pair of Prefects an area of responsibility to lead in their time in the role. They work with the SRC to promote that area of responsibility. Already we have seen the fruits of this model with Prefects working to develop a Dance Challenge at school next week and using this as a way to promote involvement in the School Show. In addition, they will work with PDHPE teacher Mr Madigan, who is organising some lunchtime sporting competitions for Year 7. The 2012 Portfolios are: School Community, Sport and Whole School involvement, Fundraising and Community activity, Student Wellbeing and Creative Arts. One important aspect of this model will be greater involvement in important P&C projects such as their fundraising barbeques. New Staff Member Joins Randwick Boys’ Welcome to Mr Wall, who has joined the Mathematics Faculty replacing Ms Ambele, who is on a period of extended leave. Mr Wall has classes from Year 7 to 11 in Mathematics. He has previously taught in the non-government sector. 2012 School Show The 2012 School Show, performed in conjunction with the girls’ school is underway for this year. Students are encouraged to try out for performing roles as singers, dancers and actors in the show. Equally important is the role of backstage crew and we encourage those young men who might want to be involved, but not as performers, to let Ms Ford know they are interested in a crew role. The School Show is a flagship event in our school year and it is really marvellous to see a growing interest and participation among our young men. It’s a great opportunity and something to remember with warmth, long after school is over.

GRADE SPORTS NEWS These are the results for Round 13. Bad luck to our boys whose teams suffered defeats. I know that some losses (especially the 1st Grade Futsal) were very close!! Well done to our winners. Special mention goes to our 15’s Basketballers who showed great spirit to fight their way back from being down at half time, to win – and win convincingly!! You boys showed that mental toughness can be your strongest asset when you face difficulties in sport and in life! Also, good sportsmanship can help you to focus and get back into a game when things get tough. I know that Daryl and Ms Quansah are very proud of you. I had the pleasure of watching our 1st Grade Oztag team play some beautiful footie, with their teamwork and handling skills a real standout. Great stuff and excellent leadership from Thommo and the Year 12s! Next week is the last round of Summer Grade Sport. Sadly, for our Cricketers, their season is over. I congratulate all of our cricket players on their wonderful spirit, their skills, camaraderie and their genuine love of the great game of cricket. These boys in the 14’s and 15’s cricket teams have been wonderful ambassadors for our school on the cricket field this season. Well done, boys!! SPORTSMAN OF THE WEEK

Sportsman of the Week - Nicodemus (Nic) LIM being presented with his Award by the Principal Mr Duncombe

Sportsman of the Week is Nicodemus (Nic) LIM from Year 12 who wowed the selectors at the Regional Volleyball Trials. Nic has been selected to represent Sydney North Region at the State Championships in March. Fantastic news!! From Ms Mould
