Vision:
Braeside Primary School is a dynamic learning community that values diversity and fosters a sense of belonging.
We meet the needs of each individual through collaborative, reflective, and evolving school-wide practices that
provide explicit, engaging experiences. Our students achieve their academic, emotional and social potential and are
contributing members of the community.
Newsletters can be emailed, please let the office know your email address.
Welcome back to Term 3, another busy term but one we look
forward to. Our School Review in Week 3 will give us a chance
to celebrate our successes over the years. We also will begin to
organise the 40th Birthday celebration to be held in 2020 and
continue to plan the new playground. Once the Review is
completed, we will add the report to our website and include
snapshots in the newsletter.
Staff Farewell
Last week we farewelled two of our permanent staff members,
Mrs Amber Ward and Mrs Kim Boyd. Mrs Ward has been with
the school as Associate Principal for the last 10 years, working
extensively on supporting our students with special education
needs and developing the Maths Block across the school. She
has accepted a fixed term position at Wagin, working four days
per week. We wish Amber the best in her new endeavour.
Miss Suttie will be working as our Maths Leader in the school
and Mrs Tester will pick up the special needs role. We are
awaiting clarification of other staff on leave before deciding
whether to replace Mrs Ward. Mrs Kim Boyd, who has ably led
the cleaning team at Braeside for the last 5 years has also
resigned. Kim has decided to pursue her studies as an
Education Assistant and is currently doing her practicum in the
area in our Pre-Primary class. We will miss both these staff
members, their work ethic and what they added to the team at
Braeside Primary School. We are in the process of advertising
for a new head cleaner.
Appointments for 2020
We are pleased to announce that we have been successful in
appointing Miss Claire Batchelor to our staff permanently for
Braeside Primary School Page 2
2020 and beyond. Claire brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in both the early years and PBS, which
she has shared with all during 2019. We look forward to many years in the future with Claire on staff.
Enrolments and Leaving Families in 2020
August is the time of the year we begin preparing for 2020, planning classes, organising funding and staffing.
If you are aware of any families that need to enrol Kindergarten or Primary school students for next year, could
you encourage them to submit their enrolment pack. We are happy to support families with guided tours or
some time in the 3-year-old program. Any families that are leaving us for 2020, if you could possibly advise
the office, this will enable us to remove your family from calculations.
Cross Country
Braeside hosted the Interschool Cross Country last week. It was a very cold day, with our students performing
at their very best. Congratulations to all.
Lexile Lunch
We are very excited to be taking 20 students to the Dome at the end of this week for our Termly Lexile Lunch
Reward, this has increased from 6 students last term. This will be held on Friday at lunch time, with
permission forms going home this week. We are hoping to be taking even more next term. 6 of these
students have qualified for the End of Year Lexile Reward at the Kulin water slides. Having our older students
exposed to wide range of books and reading at home is important as it has a large effect on school
achievement.
