Activities..............................................................................................................................................Continued from page 1

A most exciting event coming up in February is the Veterans Wall - The Wall that Heals replica will be here at the Festival Grounds. This event is brought to our community by the Aransas County Navigation District and Rockport-Fulton Chamber in partnership. We anticipate more than 5,000 in attendance. We will need lots of volunteers as The Wall has to be guarded 24 hours for the four days it is here. Our Chamber Luncheons kick off again in February with super informative topics and messages keeping you on the cutting edge with up to date information, events and happenings.

Aransas County Day at the Capitol plans are underway. That is a very informative event where we all become advocates for our community at the state legislature. There's a reception, speakers, breakfast, honorees, team visits, etc. We guide you through everything. We would love to have you join in on the bus ride or feel free to drive your own car.

In all of our surveys, you have told us about the Workforce conditions. The Chamber Academy is helping make this problem a little better through the Hospitality Training Customer Service Classes, Tech Tuesdays, Simply Social Media Sessions, Lunch & Learns and the newly

launched eLearning Online Course Series. Check those out online and direct your employees to this great program. It takes a team effort and everyone can work to improve our workforce one step at a time.

At our last Board of Directors Meeting, we approved a Membership ID Card where you will be able to take advantage of Member to Member Discounts. Watch for information on this. It will come to you in a mailing with all the details and guidelines.

Board Members participated in a fun program last quarter called "Be A Tourist for a Day." It was interesting as Board Members visited local attractions, restaurants, hotels, etc. from a tourist perspective. The Board Member who attended the most and won the prize of Dinner for Two was Dawn Walker.

At the end of February, we will have the annual Hotel Occupancy Tax Session where we take a look at our numbers compared to other years and how we can grow the slow periods. In March, we will have our annual Marketing Workshop where the Media Plan is presented and reviewed.
