Who would be the audience for your media product?(Question 4)
IntroductionWhilst people can be defined through thousands of characteristics and grouped into millions of different combinations, media productions need to target specific groups while keeping it somewhat vague. Post choosing an audience the production has to represent and relate to that group. Everything we do is affected by the audience we choose.
We chose to target our audience in 3
main ways.- Age- Location- Socioeconomic Grade (NRS Social Grade)
AgeWe chose this age group
because we feel as though we want to target younger
generations and can relate better to them. They are
progressive, tech savvy and more importantly drive more than the older groups. The
morning commute is our main target for time, this age group is the most likely to commute to
work/college/uni in the morning than below and over our demo.
16 -35
LocationThis one is simple, the dialect/accent of the
presenters is from this area and is used by the locals still. Most importantly is the fact the stories we have chosen relate heavily to this local
area. For example the “Lincolnshire woman wins
Prince's Trust Young Ambassador award” story.
Possible location of radio station
Possible radius we would like to cover.
Socioeconomic Grade
The other demographics heavily relate to this one as the language used and quite
possibly accent and slang specifically may be aimed more for ‘northerners’ the stereotype of which isn't
managerial positions. Also upper class audiences may
not see the station as mature enough. C1 - E
