AUDIENCE

When creating our production, we looked into different themes and what would appeal to certain age groups. While researching and with the use of Pearl & Dean, we saw that our romantic comedy genre attracted young people aged between 16-25. We had to make it suit the target audience and made sure everything was suitable for them to watch and enjoy.

REASON FOR THIS AGE GROUP

One of the main reasons we decided to chose this target audience is that a large majority of the young people had a greater interest in romantic comedy so it would be quite smart to target them into a genre they favour.

PLANNINGWe planning our production, we looked into themes and issues that people between 16-25 have so we could use it and convert it to comedy type. For example, in The Culture Clash the issue was having a relationship during college exams and most people our age today have problems like this. Also, the target audience is around our age so it was easier for us to target our age into the audience as we know what they want as we are cinema/moviegoers aswell.

Well felt that our rom-com is perfect for this target audience as during the research and planning stages we assembled valuable research (especially from pearlanddean) for this specific audience which we would match our production to. We couldn’t think about the target audience nationally, we thought about 16-25 year olds universally and wondered if our film would be positively rated and enjoyed by them. The production would not only like to attract people who are fans of just romantic comedies but fans of good quality films in order to acknowledge the quality in The Culture Clash.

SUCCESS

All in all, I’m very pleased with the creation of our romantic comedy. I feel that we have successful created our genre movie in conjunction with our research and planning. The film has come together very well and it I feel that we have adequately targeted the audience we intended to from the start.
