3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Edgar Walker

Gathering Opinions

• When gathering audience feedback we firstly decided to create a Facebook group with 20 people we chose to take part.

• We asked them 5 questions regarding our soap designed to bring out any issues with our soap.

Gathering Opinions

• The feedback was fairly quick due to the availability of Facebook digitally and so we were able to begin making improvements soon after asking.

• Another method we used was via email. I sent out an email to 20 different people around our college all within the same demographic compared to Face book which was more varied.

• The feedback was far more detailed as most people answered these questions during college time and so were in a better working mood which was very useful for us.

Issues

• One of the main issues we found from this feedback was the appearance of our genre.

• A lot of people believed that the genre was in fact more reality instead of soap opera.

Issues

• Another issue was that people felt that the trailer was very slow paced and not much variety of action coming their way in enough time.

• If this was the case for our final trailer then it would not attract a large audience at all and so this was definitely a priority.

Solutions• To improve the pace of the trailer we needed to

spent more time on the edit and refining certain scenes for example, the bedroom scene which was a lot longer when including Ollie’s blunt response to the girls but when taking that out and replacing it with Ollie taking a quick glance at the girl’s made it a lot quicker.

Solutions• We also decided to create a montage at the end of

the trailer to give a dramatic climax and also to raise the pace of everything.

• This was hugely successful for us as it gave a fantastic finale to the trailer and added to the effect on the audience dramatically.
