Transcript of Question 3

Page 2: Question 3

We made audience mood boards out of images to help up create the target audience for our show, these are all similar products related to out parody and they are also all things people who would like our trailer would like.

Page 3: Question 3

We asked the same people to watch our trailer and give us some feedback and these are some of the quotes from the final trailer.

"The final trailer was much better than the rough cut, I thought it looked more professional and the music fitted a lot better than before" - Luke Wainhouse

"With the title card placed at the end it makes the whole trailer seem more realistic and gives the programme brand identity" - Jack Kane

This was some of the feedback from our parody rough cut

The Sound needs editing We need to re-order the shots to flow better We need to make the cuts flow better

>"I think the trailer was really funny and really entertaining, the song suited the trailer but it could have been edited better to fit the cuts so it didn't give the right connotations" - Luke Wainhouse

We took this feedback and edited the music on 'Garage Band' so that it would fit in with ourtrailer and also ducked the sound so you can hear the actors speaking, it also fades out at the

end.

>"The trailer is funny but it doesn't have any title cards so i didn't know what was going on or which channel the show would be shown on." - Jack Kane

We added que cards at the end to establish what TV programme we were showing it on andwhat time, date etc. We also re-arranged the scenes to flow better.

The feedback helped us to tailor our trailer to the intended audience. After gaining feedback we went back and edited the trailer where the audience suggested, the comments after we had finished were a lot more positive than the rough cut.

Page 4: Question 3

The audience feedback helped us to make our trailer a lot more professional and also after creating our audience profile we knew what sort of people we should be asking for feedback. After receiving some constructive criticism we worked on it and changed what we had to, to make the trailer more appealing to the target audience.

“could have been edited better to fit the cuts so it didn't give the right connotations"

“doesn't have any title cards”

We then changed all the things the audience mentioned and asked for more feedback from the same people

"The final trailer was much better than the rough cut, i thought it looked more proffesional and the music fitted a lot better than before"

"With the title card placed at the end it makes the whole trailer seem more realistic and gives the programme brand identity"

I learnt that audience feedback is important to create any product that is advertised toward a certain audience.

Without asking for audience feedback from our target audience we wouldn’t have been able to tailor our trailer to them.

We had analysed the trailer ourselves and changed what we could that seemed wrong or out of place but after asking for feedback it really opened our eyes to what we had to change to make the trailer more believable as a genuine soap.

We had to choose a popular song that everybody would know so that it gave the audience some familiarity to the show and it was something totally new or alien to them.

We made 3 different drafts of the trailer before we felt it was finally finished.

We even got comments from other people on YouTube.
