Camera/photo-shoot/lighting

• When doing this project, I had to learn how to use an SLR camera as it would

make professional looking pictures for the magazines images. I learnt how to

focus the camera myself before taking the picture so that they were at a high

quality. I learnt different ways to position the camera during photo-shoots to

create different views and camera angles so that each picture has different effects

on the magazine. I also learnt to use the rule of thirds when taking pictures to

make them look better and at a higher standard.

• For the photo-shoot, I had to get different backgrounds for the photo-shoot and

make sure the peoples bodies didn’t clash with the background. To do this, I

planned their clothing before the photo-shoot and changed the angles and views

of the camera so that it looked right.

• Also for the photo-shoot, I had to make sure that the lighting was correct on the

background in the infinity room by increasing and decreasing the amount and

moving the lights around to create the effects that I wanted.

For these image, I had to

change the lighting a lot to

make it perfectly how I

wanted it. (infinity room)

Slideshare & Prezi

• I found slideshare easy to use, I used slideshare.net so that I could upload power points to my blog to show progress throughout my project. I had to upload the power point on to the site and then, I learnt how to embed the code into the html area on my blog entry so that it show up on there.

• I used prezi for a different kind of way to present information. I learnt how to use it and I just had to choose a template and type up the information. It was similar to ‘slideshare’ in that I had to embed the code to the html area again.

Photoshop

• During this project, I had to learn how to use photoshop properly so that I could create my magazine cover page.

• I learnt how to edit pictures on there (main image), so that they look more enhanced and professional. I also learnt how to cut pieces of the images off with tools such as ‘magic wand’.

• I learnt different ways to position text so that it looks like a higher quality and like a magazine cover. I also learnt, how to use different colours that complement, so that it all works together rather than clashing. I downloaded fonts from ‘dafont.com’ so that my magazine would look more unique.

• On photoshop, I learnt how to use different smaller tools to make it simpler for me to use and other some other small tools to improve to quality of my magazine cover slightly.

• When I had finished, I then learnt how to turn the magazine front cover project into a JPEG image so that I could upload it onto my blog.

Quark

• I used Quark to create my contents page and double page spread. I had never used this before this project so had to learn how to use it from the start.

• I learnt how to set up the different pages as contents is a different size to the double page spread. I learnt how to insert images by creating a box, then resizing it to the size I want it or using ‘fit to box’ and then positioning it in the correct place.

• I used the text box tool to create the text for my magazine and used different features to create different effects for the writing.

• I learnt how to use the guide lines so that my magazine’s text won’t get cut off the sides when being printed.
