Q Double Page Spread Textual Analysis The colours in the main image are mainly the whites from the studio lighting on the Singers left and the red lighting from the singer’s right. The other colours include the black from the singers clothing and accessories, skin colour, hair colour. The lighting is high key as it is dividing the photo into two. The male singer is of black skin colour and from his features is of American ethnicity. This could be mixed American ethnicity however. His eye gesture is hidden however because of the layout and composure of the singer it’s likely to be looking towards the camera. His facial expression is serious and stern looking. This can relate to his high wealth and social status as a singer. The singer is wearing a black T-shirt and appears to have no make up on. This could relate to his stern facial expression and his purpose for the photo-shoot. There are no props in the photo which can relate to the shot type being a close up therefore there is little purpose for a prop and if the was it would need to be a small but important prop or a prop that is very large but is only partially visible in the background. The location is a studio this supports the use and purpose of having one half of the photo having use of red lighting. The composition of the image is important in this photo. As the top two point of interest are focused on the singers shades but this could be focused on his eyes behind them which can raise some questions about the main image. Although the bottom two points of interest are focused on the edges of his draw, which doesn’t mean or signify as much which can make the other two seem more important.
