Statistically, a fire breaks out in a residential building or on industrial premises somewhere in the world every minute. On the one hand this leads to personal injuries and on the other hand a fire normally puts a considerable financial stress to everyone involved. Sometimes it is not even possible to restore destroyed documents, neither digital, nor physical ones. The financial damages and downtimes are so serious that companies are not able to resume their production in an equivalent manner and become bankrupt as a consequence.

Through numerous openings for electrical and other installations like piping systems in walls and floors smoke and fire can spread very fast from one utilisation unit in a building to another, heat transfered via metallic pipes or burning droplets of cable coatings may light furniture or flammable objects and substances in adjoining rooms.

Measures for passive structural fire protection prevents a fire from spreading, it is possible to keep the fire, smoke and heat within defined areas – the so called fire sections – for a specified time period. For example this ensures escape and rescue routes to remain open for this time, people can leave the building without getting in danger and helpless persons can be rescued, too.

The financial damage caused by a fire, is limited to the section where the fire starts and stays and does not destroy or damage the whole building. The risk of major material damages are significantly reduced and companies can resume their work quickly. Also the resulting damages are reduced because e.g. plants production downtimes are as shortened significantly.

For more than 40 years, svt has approved their fire protection applications for the national market by the DIBt (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik).After a successfull fire testing, according to the test or classification report an abZ (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung - general type approval) is issued by the DIBt.

ETAEuropean Technical Assessments

With the harmonisation of the european market the euro-pean technical approval and later the european technical assessment has been established. The standards and guidelines, developed by the EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Assessement) are the basis for the ETA. Most of svt´s systems and products are tested and certified in accordance to EN (European Norm).

CE markingCE marking is a mandatory conformity marking of the manufacturer and shows that the declared product fulfills the requirements and specifications in accordance to the relevant european guidelines. Together with the declaration of performance, svt complies the conformity of it´s products.

External monitoring / Ü-ZeichenAll svt products are monitored externally by german material testing institutes. They control the selfrecor-dings, monitoring-data and take product samples. For the description of firestop systems, UL uses a combination of letters and numbers. The letters inform about the structural element and the openings location (wall/floor). The numbers identify the media which is fed through the penetration sealing system. With this clear number and letter code all important information is given on the first view.

For example: the UL-System C-AJ-01666 describes the fire protection sealing of a metallic pipe in walls or floors.

One product - many applications!PYRO-SAFE ® FLAMMOTECT-A is available in three different viscosities (coating, solid emulsion, filler). These fire protection products cover a wide application area, e.g. fire protection coating for cables and cable systems or final painting of penetration sealing systems. PYRO-SAFE® DG-CR 1.5 Wrap Strip

PYRO-SAFE® DG-CR 1.5 is a flexible fabric composite fibre glass reinforcement with intumescent coating on the inside. When exposed to heat or fire it forms a microporous, heat insulating foam on the inside, which fills the space between the building component and the fabric, thus limiting the spread of fire.

PYRO-SAFE® DG-CR BS Wrap Strip

PYRO-SAFE® DG-CR BS is a flexible fabric composite fibre glass reinforcement for plastic pipesand has an intumescent coating on both sides. When exposed to heat or fire it forms a microporous, heat insulating foam, which fills the space between the building component and the fabric, thus limiting the spread of fire.

Product characteristics• Resistant against weather, moisture and UV radiation• High tensile strength• Reacts at app. 150 °C• No impact on other buildung materials like Polyethylene (PE) and Polyvinyl Chlorid (PVC) in accordance with EOTA TR 024• Paintable with approved paintings based on acryldispersion, alkyd resin, polyurethane acryl and epoxy resin in accordance with EOTA TR 024
