The fear is in the unknown.
Currently there is extensive usage of animal stearates in the manufacturing of plastic food service and packaging products. The concentration of these chemicals in formulations can be as high as 2%.
These rendered animal by-products are unregulated by FDA, food safety or religious food inspectors.
They migrate to the surface of containers and films to interact with foods, especially when microwaved or frozen.
Consumers have no way of knowing if these chemicals exist in their plastics.
