CLUB MOTTO: "For Continuing Service"

EDITORIAL The master plan and time table prepared

by Mits Fukuda's carnival committee during the pas t six months is b los s 0 min g into full bloom.

Els ewhere in this issue is pictured our clothing committee hard at work piecing materials together for our carnival coming up in Augus t. other similar work groups, too, are 'Well on their 'Way toward planning and preparing for this revenue raising project.

The carnival project is being staged this year: (1) to secure proceeds from it to bolster the finances of our organization; (2) to serve as a medium of having every member and his family participating and contributing in some manner or form and actually becoming a gt:ar in the r otation of the Club 100 fly wheel.

The respons e to our appeals to date have been highly gr atifying. The enthusiastic manner in which the fair ladies of our One Puka Puka households have accepted their call tc duty is es pecially noteworthy. Day by day more and more of our 'Women folks are being recruited by phone calls and direct contacts to serve in one capacity or another. We offer

Puka Puka Parade a

apologies to you "erstwhile" husbands right here in case you have already become a "carnival widower" or are about to become one.

As reported in an earlier issue Ha~aii Chapter has generously offered to furnish house plants for the carnival.

Our paisans from the Vall e y lllie have decided to extend us their full backing for this undertaking .

Kauai Chapter no doubt will SOon follo,. step and afford us further support.

Replies to our questionnaire have been n pouring in from neighboring islands with of- in! fers from 100th Battalion mesdames to supply. re rice bags, crochet masterpieces, knitted items, s)

pot hoi d e r s and other goods. We on Oahu os acknowledge this heartfelt kokua with sincerest If. gratitude.

August seems like a long ways off, but in terms of the preparations still to be made it, is only a few flips of the calendar pages away. From here on in we ask your help in pulliDgl ~ all stops and really "going to town" on various I phases of the undertaking. d I

It is not too early for you to shift througb.t Ot

your possessions to look for hardware, wear- ea ing apparels, plants, clot?, and other DOD-' 'm perishables. If you don t have any, youfll nc friends and neighbors may have some. .1 b<

As the zero hour approaches check into: ar and prepare your favorite recipes for cakes, pies, cookies, doughnuts, sushi, etc. L

Then, before and during the two day event an army of tradesmen, s a I e s men, clerks, cashiers, laborers, chauffers and personnel of all sizes and c I ass if i cat ion will be sorely needed. Your positive response to appeals fOf supplies and manpower will contribute greatly toward a most successful carnival and an even firmer Club 100.
