In  Three  Week  the  Head  Enlarged  Rapidly  

SURABAYA-­‐   in  his  age  on  3  months  old,  Puji  Pratama  suffering  from  hydrocephalus.  This  is  a  condition  that  is  due  to  excessive  fluid  build  up  in  the  head  (cerebrovascular  spinal  fluid).  This  condition  indicated  with  the  head  of  the  baby  continues  grow.  

The  normal  round  head  for  newborn  baby  is  not  more  than  36  cm.  but,  when  born  by  surgery,  his  round  head  already  52  cm  &  his  weight  gain  was  4  kg.  “Yesterday  we  measure  again  his  round  head  already  57  cm,  Ani  said,  Puji’s  aunty,  when  we  met  them  in  their  house,  Dusun  Bibis,  Keret,  Krembung,  Sidoarjo.  

That   means   that   in   three   weeks   his   head   already   enlarged   5   cm.   Herawati,   the  mother,   can’t   doing  anything  for  her  first  child.  With  her  condition  with  Polio,  the  30  years  old  women,  resignedly  with  the  condition.  Ani,  her  sister  and  Juwariyah,  her  mother,  which  led  Puji  get  treatment.  

One   of   their   efforts,   they   already   brought   Puji   to   RSUD   Sidoarjo.   However,   Ani   was   upset   with   the  service   from   that  hospital.  While   in   the  administration,   they  didn’t  want   to   received  Puji   because   the  legalization  of  underprivileged  letter  less  one.  So,  she  came  back  again  the  day  after.  

In  the  Pediatric,  Puji  handle  with  good  hand.  The  pediatric  refer  him  to  the  neurologist.  Unfortunately,  the  service  is  not  good,  hurtful.  Puji  didn’t  get  the  examination  at  all,  the  neurologist  didn’t  touch  him  at  all.  The  neurologist  also  didn’t  open  his  file.  

The  neurologist    also  said  that  suctioning  fluids  will  be  useless.  Surgery  also  can’t  be  done.  She  asked,  is  there  an  alternative  to  other  treatments,  doctors  said  no.  Since  that  incident,  Puji  only  stay  at  home.  He  became  tiny.  Besides  that,  he  also  got  cleft  lip.  The  attention  finally  coming  from  Cleft  Care  Foundation  Indonesia  (CCFI)  which  coming  to  their  house  and  check  Puji’s  condition.  

Senior  Community  Health  Care  CCFI  –  Endang  Lestari  said,  when  they  first  time  came  to  Puji’s  house,  his  condition  is  very  concerned.   Include  malnutrition,  when  we  pinched  his  skin  does  not  return.  His  head  become  bigger  but  his  getting  tiny.  

Yesterday   is   the   third   home   visit   that   doing   by   Endang.   She   brought   7   tins   milk   which   size   400gr.  Increase  the  drinking  became  60cc  per  2  hours  so  can  improving  Puji  nutritional  status.  Endang  also  give  special  bottle  for  Puji.  It’s  like  the  other  bottle  but  elastic  so  we  can  help  press  the  bottle  when  the  child  was  drink.  

The  plan   is  Endang  will  assist  Puji   to  the  Pediatric  to  check  his   lugs.  Because,   it’s   indicated  he  also  got  bronchopneumonia.  

Beside  Puji,  Yesterday  CCFI  also  does  the  home  visit  to  Afizah  in  Kampung  Malang  Kulon,  Surabaya.  The  2,5  years   child   is   got  hemangioma,  a   type  of  benign   tumor  which   involves  abnormal  buildup  of  blood  vessels  in  the  skin.  She  got  it  since  she  was  3  months  old,  explain  Clara  Hadjon,  operation  officer  of  CCFI.  The  size  getting  bigger.  

Davis,  Afizah’s  father,  said  already  go  to  the  hospital.  After  doing  the  examination,  the  doctor  said  that  Afisah  should  follow  the  surgery.  But  the  fee  is  too  expensive,  we  didn’t  have  any  money  to  pay.  If  not  follow  the  surgery,  it  could  potentially  damage  her  eyes.  Clara  said  that  the  parents  are  comer  from  out  of   Surabaya   and   they   didn’t   have   any   ID   card   or   documents.   They   can’t   arrange   the   underprivileged  letter.  We  still  looking  for  the  hospital  that  can  operated  her.
