What do you already know about the Common Core

Standards?

I know nothing about the CC standards.

I know a little bit about the CC standards.

I know some information, but am not yet comfortable implementing them in a public library setting.

I know a lot about the CC standards and am comfortable implementing them in a public library setting.

What is a Lexile Level Anyway?

A measure of text difficulty

Based on two predictors:word frequencysentence length

The text complexity of K-12 textbooks has become increasingly "easier" over the last 50 years.

The text demands of college and careers have remained consistent or increased over the same time period.

As a result, there is a significant gap between students' reading abilities and the text demands of their postsecondary pursuits. (watch a video about Lexile measures.)
