Subject-Based Banding
What is Subject-Based Banding (SBB)?
• Pupils do subjects at the levels that best meet their abilities study subjects they are strong in to the highest level possible
• Subjects are offered at Standard and Foundation levels
• It is NOT INTENDED to provide a softer option

Direct Schools Admission
• Gives participating schools greater flexibility in their admission of students
• Adheres to key principles of transparency and meritocracy• Talents and achievements, in both academic and non-
academic areas, can be considered for S1 admission• Each participating school sets its own criteria for selection
based on the academic and/or non-academic areas that the school would like to emphasise
• Includes (but not limited to) portfolios, trials, interviews and/or tests
• Once a student accepts the DSA, s/he CANNOT take part in the Sec 1 Option Exercise and change schools after the PSLE results
