From the PTA PresidentHappy new year!!!  It's out with the old and in with the new - time to reflect on the past and set new goals for the future.

Donaldson has accomplished some pretty great things this past year, especially earning the National Blue Ribbon Award!  We have raised enough funds to purchase 5 new Smart Boards, which will be installed in 5 lucky classrooms soon!  We have donated over 100 new books to the Children's Hospital!  We have shown our true colors in supporting Anya's Army!

So, are we done?  Have we achieved all that we can?  I believe the answer is NO - Donaldson can do so much more!

What project should we tackle next?  What will challenge us to try harder, do more, be better?  If you have a great idea for Donaldson PTA, please contact me at [email protected] and we will work together to accomplish something amazing!

What’s a SMART Board?A Smart Board is an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection of computer applications and the ability to write over

standard Windows applications. It’s connected to an LCD panel and computer, creating an interactive whiteboard. Still confused? This helpful video shows how real teachers are

using Smart Boards and how it impacts children in the classroom.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U05WeXPGlk

Help us raise the funds to reach our goal of FOUR Smart Boards in the classrooms by the end of this year!

Chalk it Up!Mrs. King's Blue and Green Anya's Army Day raised $1656 for the LaMar Family! The family was

overwhelmed by our school's unbelievable community spirit and love. We truly turned Donaldson into a family, not just a school. A very HUGE and heart-felt THANKS to all the mothers who volunteered. I could not have done this without your tireless work, and good nature. You truly

made this an experience for the kids! Salons have nothing on us! Mrs. King and I will never be able to show how much we appreciate your support!! My special thanks to Mrs. Kings entire 4th grade class, for retrieving and directing all the classrooms and for keeping the school spirit alive all day.

Academics were light, but your life-lesson was ....priceless. To the anonymous person who donated the huge check just for the Mrs. King fund........ Mrs. King will be wearing her blue and green hair until the last day of school. I know this is one year she wants to end on time! Finally, thanks to Mrs. King, who has gone above and beyond just being a teacher. You wear your blue and green

hair proudly! - Mindy Rose

Here at Donaldson we provide many wonderful

programs at school to help enhance the learning

environment that our school district provides.

Some examples are parties, field trips, birthday

books, teacher appreciation, yearbooks,

recreational equipment, cultural programs in the

arts, school assemblies and so much more! We’ll

keep you updated on what our National PTA is

working to achieve. Weʹll keep trying to come up

with ways to meet the needs of our children, our

teachers, our school and our community.

To achieve these goals, we need your voice. We

need your ideas and we need your input. Wonʹt

you please consider becoming involved in our

PTA? Together, we CAN make a difference in our

childrenʹs lives and potentially many future

generations.

We hope you will want to be an active part of

Donaldson PTA this year. Donaldson PTA is an

association of faculty, parents and our community

supporting each other to improve the education of

our children. The PTA is the largest, non-profit,

volunteer, child-advocacy organization in the

nation. There are two easy steps that you can take

to help promote the welfare of our children.

1. Volunteer for a commiWee or any of the many

PTA sponsored activities.

2. Give the PTA your suggestion, thoughts and

ideas. Make your voice heard.

Thank you for your continued support. We look

forward to working together.

Please note that clearances are needed to volunteer for most PTA activities. However, if you have not moved and have your clearances on file at Donaldson, you do not need to redo them.

Thanks to your support, Donaldson ElementaryPTA
