July Astrology

In astrology, those born between July 1 and

July 22 are the Crabs of Cancer. Crabs are

emotional nurturers, dedicated to their home

and family. Gentle and kind, they love

storytelling around the dinner table and

enjoy upholding traditions. Those born

between July 23 and July 31 are the Lion star

sign Leo. Leos are dignified, strong, and

powerful, making good leaders and

honorable friends. They are also ambitious—

reaching for the stars, working hard, and

accomplishing their goals.

Father’s Day at david place featured a toy show this year. Ed H.’s

family kindly brought part of his toy collection to show and share. Lots

of neat antique toys were shared with our residents. Thanks to all who

participated and brought items to share!

Vetter’s 40th anniversary theme for the quarter was the 1980’s. In

honor of that we threw a ‘80’s party. People dressed up and

celebrated all things ‘80’s. Including big hair, rubix cubes and

Doritos.

Jennifer M……………….……..July 31 There is something puzzling about July 13.

On this day in 1944, Erno Rubik—the

inventor of Rubik’s Cube—was

born in Hungary.

Perhaps this is why July 13

is celebrated as International

Puzzle Day.

Rubik did not start out his career as a

puzzle inventor. As an architect and professor of

architecture, he handmade the first Rubik’s Cube in

1974 to help teach his students about three-

dimensional space. When his invention left Hungary

in 1980 and was manufactured as a toy, it became a

worldwide craze. More than five million cubes were

sold the first year. More than 350 million have been

sold since, making it perhaps the most popular toy

ever invented. As for Rubik, his interests remain in

educating students about engineering, science, and

technology, and he has recently launched a

worldwide tour promoting the field of science,

technology, engineering, and math (known

collectively as STEM).
