Proverbs 3:1-6 (KJV) 1 My son, forget not My law; but let thine heart keep My commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

7-8 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Everybody wants to be healthy and refreshed. And people try everything but this Scripture.

Come home worn out.

God says that if we want to be healthy and refreshed, “Fear the Lord and depart from evil.”

Don’t think you are smarter than God –“Be not wise in your own eyes.”

There is nothing wrong with a good vacation that we can afford.

There’s nothing wrong with vitamins, if you can afford them and want them.

Just don’t expect it to give you the good life.

“Be not wise in thine own eyes.”Intelligence does not equal Wisdom.

You can’t figger out how to be happy and healthy. You can’t find rest to your own soul.

Only in walking with Jesus according to His Word will we ever find rest to our souls.

(Jesus said) Matthew 11 28-30 Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

Physical rest and soul rest are two different things.

A soul at rest will find physical rest and sleep to be better than you ever thought.

9-10 Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

We give the first 10% back to the Lord in acknowledgment that all we have is from Him.We sometimes think that we can’t afford to give, but the Truth is that we can’t afford not to give.

Malachi 3 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

Daddy taught me to tithe when I was a small child. If I received a dollar, I gave a dime to the Lord.

That was an absolute in our home.Daddy and Mama did it, and taught us to do it.

Tithing is thanksgiving. It brings God’s blessings.

And He rebukes the devourer.

11-12 My son, despise not the chastening (reproof, instruction, restraint) of the LORD; neither be weary of His correction: For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

We should be grateful when the Lord corrects us; it shows us that He loves us.

If He didn’t love us, He would let us go on in our own ways unto damnation.

A loving parent tends to correct the child more and more strongly, for whom he has the most hope.

God knows perfectly our potential, because He put it within us.

He loves us enough to help us reach our full potential.
