These prototype files reside in the C:\DATA\TMWIN\PROTOTYP folder. Each prototype file contains D-sized sheet(s) in the sheet view mode. Additional sheets can be created by copying one of the blank sheets, or by importing the file dborder.tmx using the tmxin command. Each sheet is placed on a separate layer corresponding to its sheet number. Additional features include a layer called FRAME on the plan view, which enables the user to graphically choose the plot scale needed when creating a dynaview. One of the frames can be chosen as the dynaview box, and moved over the points or portion of the plan view to be plotted. The name of the frame corresponds to the plot scale that should be chosen [Settings][View settings], and the resulting dynaview box will exactly match that of the inside plot box of the D-Border sheet. A layer called INSTRUCTIONS is shown in the sheet view, which gives the user some guidance on text heights, plotting scales, penmap settings, and how to utilize the automatic title block labeling feature. The four prototype files are briefly described as follows: NEBRASKA.PRO: This is the generic prototype, containing a single D-sized sheet in the sheet view. DWR.PRO: This should be the prototype file to select when creating a new job that will be reviewed by DWR. This contains 6 sheets, including a cover sheet and data sheet. NON-DWR.PRO: This file is similar to the DWR prototype file in that it too contains 6 sheets, including a cover sheet and data sheet. Sheet 3 closely resembles the old NB-ENG-42 form, the top half of which can be used for the pipe profile, and the bottom half for the table of quantities and other design data. The intent of this prototype file is to produce a quality and consistent set of drawings at the field office level by plotting the first 3 or 4 sheets (sheet 4 might be a plan view with a simple contour map and control points shown along with a north arrow and scale) with the auto-title block feature and finishing up the rest of the drawing by hand. The user also has the option of finishing the entire design with TerraModel. AG-WASTE: This file contains a cover sheet, 4 choices for the data sheet, and 4 blank sheets. Use the data sheet that best corresponds to the type of project you will be designing. In addition, there are tables off to the side to utilize for debris basins and layout point data. Simply move them to the sheet of your choice and fill in the blanks.

TERRAMODEL FOR WINDOWS PROTOTYPE FILES

Version 9.60, 10-29-99

Four prototype files have been developed for use in Nebraska.

The four prototype files are briefly described as follows:

NEBRASKA.PRO: This is the generic prototype, containing a single D-sized sheet in the sheet view.

To access the prototype files, the tmodwin.ini file must first be modified. This only has to be done the first time the prototype files are loaded into your hard drive. The tmodwin.ini file is located in the C:\ENG\TMW32 folder, or for some, in the C:\SPECTRA\TMODWIN folder. If you havent yet customized your printer and penmap settings, skip this part and go to the Shortcut item shown below. Otherwise, close TerraModel and locate and open the tmodwin.ini file in Wordpad, and edit the file to include the TSP line in the location shown below:

Save the file tmodwin.ini in its original location and close Wordpad.

To access the prototype files in TerraModel, open one of the four existing prototype files in the C:\DATA\TMWIN\PROTOTYP folder, and then immediately perform a [File][Save project as] command and save to a new file name in the C:\DATA\TMWIN folder or some other folder of your choosing. This method of accessing the prototype file(s) will preserve the integrity of the original prototype file(s).

To default to a specific prototype file each time a new project is created, access the System menu under the file menu, [File]-Config system-[System], and replace the default prototype file with one of the prototype file names (including extension) of your choosing, such as nebraska.pro. Close the current project (save first if so desired), then each time a new project is created, the prototype file attributes will be present. This only has to be done once, or whenever a different prototype file is to be used as the default for new projects.

Shortcut: If you havent yet set up your printer/plotter configurations or pen settings in TerraModel, then simply copy over the tmodwin.ini file from the C:\DATA\TMWIN\PROTOTYP folder into either the C:\ENG\TMW32 or C:\SPECTRA\TMODWIN folder and overwrite the existing tmodwin.ini file that was installed with the software. This tmodwin.ini file has the TSP settings already established, as well as the penmap and plotter pen carousel which will be used as the Nebraska standards. The user will still have to configure the printer and plotter for the computer he/she will be using.

If you have any questions or recommendations for changes in these prototype files, please contact Rod Angeroth at 402-439-2236.

Before plotting, "load" one of the 4 penmap settings as shown above for the plotting device and media size being used, and select a plotter configuration which uses the "Nebraska" carousel and appropriate plotting device.

0.18 mm plotter pens only available for mylar/film plots.

For D-size plots, minimum text heights should be 0.15" for Capitals and digits, and 0.125" for lower case letters. 0.10" may be used as the absolute minimum for labeling point numbers for layout. Refer to EFH-5, TR-73, and DWR requirements (Title 457, Chpt. 12) for text heights.

All text heights less than 0.15" should be plotted with a 0.25 mm pen width or smaller.

Use Color 1 (dark blue) as the non-printing/plotting color assigned to objects.

This color is often used as the color of the plot box around a dynaview, and is used as the color for background text and notes, which notes serve as reminders and tips as the drawings are being developed.

Use Color 10 for D-sized text heights = 0.10" (layout point numbers)

Use Color 15 for D-sized text heights < = 0.125"

Use Color 11 for bold text and heavy line weights

Use Color 12 for Index Contour Lines and Labels

Use Color 5 and 13 for very heavy line weights, such as sheet borders

Use color 20 for As-Built notes, plot using a red pen

* Use color 24 for subdued and gray colors, such as background x-section lines (Light gray = 204 red, green, blue)

Black is the default pen color.

HP LASERJET 4 PRINTERS:

For rapid plots to the printer, configure the printer settings to use the LaserJet 4 print driver.

Select raster graphics and EMF spooling when configuring the settings.

For gray shading, configure printer settings to use LaserJet 4/4M Postscript print driver.

PLOT SETTINGS FOR LASER PRINTERPLOT SETTINGS FOR B-PLOTS:PEN PLOTTER, HP DRAFTPRO PLUSFor pen plots, consider sending the plot to a file as shown above, and then go to a DOS prompt and "copy" the file to the LPT1 port. This will free up the computer to allow you to keep working in TerraModel while a plot is taking place. The alternative is to plot directly to the plotter with the serial or parallel ports, and wait until the plot is substantially complete before continuing any more work in TerraModel.
