Business benefits:
Examples of using the DBYD spatial archive
• DBYD Enquiry data immediately available to
the company on which analysis can be
performed so as to improve processes.
• Reduce the risk of workers impacting the
network when excavating or operating
machinery
• Third parties are offered the opportunity to
purchase a digital copy of the area. Selected
via the DBYD boundary to ‘cookie cut’ out the
data to be provided.

Business benefits:
Examples of using the DBYD spatial archive
• Used to locate the area where someone is working.
Can let them know additional attributes to assist.
The feedback of information provided is also used to
update their systems by performing data
corrections.
• Traditionally, non-GIS users within Western Power
(for example commercial/legal) had to request a
search from a specialised DBYD team. They would
have to wait for the team to search and retrieve the
records. Now many data layers are available to all
types of users via ESRI’s Dekho for easy reporting,
analysis and investigation.

Other notes:
1. This solution awarded a GITA technology Excellence
