Transcript of Projects I have successfully managed at TFG
Projects I have managed @ TFG:
I have successfully managed the implementation of the IT infrastructure (hardware &
software) for the construction of two of our clothing manufacturing factories. This included
network infrastructure, Telephony, desk top services, audio/visual and the installation of a
OMS (operational management system), for the monitoring of production line output.
I have lead the technology refresh in over one thousand stores in our environment, managing
the upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7and the associated hardware and software
upgrades necessary for our stores to trade; this included the testing of new versions of our
legacy applications. Each phase of this project went through the full project life cycle, from
initiation and planning to closure. Each store would require new network infrastructure
(fiber), network switches, point of sales hardware, stock scanning hardware and various other
components installed without affecting their ability to trade on the installation day. Shop
fitting would also have to be managed for stores with hardware older than 5 years.
I managed a successful Proof of Concept for a Remote Desktop Solution in our Head Office
environment, allowing employees to access applications & files from any PC on campus. This
project required remediation and development to be completed on a series of legacy
applications, as well as the testing of over 100 users in various environments and divisions
within the company. Managing stakeholder and user expectations was key to this projects
success.
I managed a successful Proof of Concept for the new Email Platform Migration and
Optimization service now employed by TFG. It involved migrating the mail boxes for the full
store environment (2800 stores) into the cloud using a Mimecast solution, supported by
Internet Solutions. I was responsible for scoping the project, managing the relationships with
IS and Mimecast and their interaction with our infrastructure and development teams.
I successfully managed the implementation of a Managed Print Service to over 2600 of our
stores covering 8 different countries in Southern Africa. (Hardware, Software, Separate
contractual agreements for each country, Vendor SLAs and a multimillion Rand budget).
Shop fitters, freight and logistics, customs and installation had to all be managed by myself,
including the initial RFP (request for proposal) process that was initiated before the project
was kicked off.
During a companywide Innovation Challenge which focused on methods to improve our end
user experience (the consumer), I submitted a business case for Social Media Tracking and
displaying in our store environment. My proposal was selected as one of three which will be
implemented in our stores.
