Patryk Kleczkowski PROGRESS UPDATE PLANS FOR NEXT MONTH/WEEK (Including possible contingency plans if problems are anticipated) Mon W/B 05/01/15 (Detailed Weekly Summary) For the start of our project we started to talk about a lot of different ideas, brainstorming and basically getting to understand properly what we were asked to do and how to do it properly. For the next week we are going to start to properly document every action/planning we do as well as start doing the individual tasks that are required of us. Mon W/B 12/01/15 (Detailed Weekly Summary) Started working on Task 1, completed most of it throughout the week, the task included describing different types of briefs, what skills can be gained from them as well as giving examples of it. For the next week I plan to start working on Task 2 with my partner. First off however I will need to finish off my task 1 with some information that will be provided for me that was not available this week. Mon W/B 19/01/15 (Detailed Weekly Summary) We finished task 1 with the necessary information about example of briefs that wasn’t available to us before and then started to work on task 2 with my partner, brainstorming what we want to do exactly, branching out into different genres and disadvantages as well as advantages for each one of them. We mainly considered the space or the medieval genre, 2D, and a sort of a platformer with linear progression. We used mind maps, We’re planning to prepare to give our pitch about our game, this includes writing a script for what we’re going to say, the powerpoint presentation as well as a basic prototype of the game.

For the next week we are going to start to properly document every action/planning we do as well as start doing the individual tasks that are required of us.

Mon W/B 12/01/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

Started working on Task 1, completed most of it throughout the week, the task included describing different types of briefs, what skills can be gained from them as well as giving examples of it.

I started to prepare for our pitch along with my partner, he made the script and planned out our presentation as well as made any necessary assets for both the prototype of the game and the presentation itself, I on the other hand programmed the prototype so that it would work properly for the presentation as well as create the

Mon W/B 02/02/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

We finished creating our basic sprites and programming for the game and fleshed out the prototype of the game, ready for the pitch itself.

I am going to continue programming the game and flesh it out along with my partner creating more music and sprites.

Mon W/B 09/02/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I continued to work on our game, we also had our pitch and presented our game in the best light possible, presenting the prototype, the idea and how we want to carry out the project.

I plan to continue work on the programming of the game for now, a lot of ideas are flashing through my head at the moment and I am trying to put them all together, doing any specific documentation besides the production and progress logs is put on hold for now.

I continue programming works on the game, mainly trying out different AI’s for the enemies and how they can be utilized to give a dynamic battlefield experience to the player.

I plan to continue programming works on the game for the next week.

Mon W/B 23/02/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I finish off the AI and I am mostly happy with it, I move on with the programming to the module part of our game, trying out different things and how I want it to work exactly, with not a lot of experience within the engine so far it takes a lot of time but I am also learning a lot about the programming.

For the next week I plan to continue working on the player module programming to really get it up to a sufficient enough standard.

Mon W/B 02/03/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I continue to work on the module design, the work progress is going painfully slow at this point because of me trying to figure out different configurations for the modules, how to do each part of them and what implications each idea might have for the rest of the game. I continue to update my production and progress log.

I plan to continue work on programming for the next week.

I finish up the module design, with a few unsolved problems yet but for now I decide to go work on something else and come back with a fresh

mindset to it. I decide to go and work on programming for level changes, as well as create a health system for the player and the enemies. I also create the score system for the player so that the levels can now be progressed through as they are meant to be, the player must now earn enough points from killing enemies to progress.

Mon W/B 16/03/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I finish off the health system for both the player and the enemies, as well as create a good system for switching levels, I decided to have several different layouts instead of just one with switching backgrounds, this made it easier to program in what enemies I want on each level with what obstacles and level design.

I plan to continue programming the game for the next week, and continue to update my production and progress logs.

Mon W/B 30/03/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

Continued with the programming of the game, this time I also did a little bit of art design myself to see how I can direct my partner into creating good sprites for the modules so that they all fit together well in terms of both art style and how they are going to be programmed. I also did some programming for individual concept modules inside the engine

I plan to come back to the general modules for the next 2 weeks and finish it off completely so that the rest of the game can then be completed.

Mon W/B 06/04/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I came back to work on the modular design along with my partner, Taylor, we did some prototype modules, putting them into the game and resolved some of the last issues with the system such as how to pin the objects to the player at all times. We then put together a plan of what modules we want for our game and we set about to work on them, he started making the specific sprites while I created the programming for them.

I plan to finish off the module system for our game with my partner for the next week so that the rest of the game can be completed as well.

For this week we finished up the module mechanics for our game, having all the modules

we want, programmed in and having the assets for. I tested the system for a little while to make sure it works as intended and once I was happy with it I started to work on other things requiring attention, first off I started making the levels sizes what I want them and make sure they work properly along with the perspective for the player being good.

Mon W/B 20/04/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I created one more AI concept that is much simpler from the previous ones created that would be used on basic enemies. I also tried balancing out the enemies so that the player had a chance to actually survive through the level, I adjusted the points necessary to progress through the levels as well.

I plan to continue programming of the game for the next week.

I finished off any required programming for the game as well as fix some issues including health bar sometimes not working properly or enemies behaving weirdly.

I plan to tidy up the programming and make sure everything is completed for the next week.

Mon W/B 04/05/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

With most of the programming done I decide to tidy up the programming into different groups and categories so that it is easier to look through and adjust anything if need be. I also re-do the movement of the player to resemble more of a spaceship.

I plan to finish up tidying the programming in the next week.

I finish off tidying up all the programming. As well as continue to test the game for any issues.

For next week I plan to put in everything art and music wise.

Now that the programming of the game is finished I replace all the placeholder art with proper ones from Taylor as well as put all the music and sound effects in, I make sure that it all works properly in harmony with the programming.

For the next week I plan to work on my documentation.

Mon W/B 25/05/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

Now that the game was finished I work on my documentation, I tidy up my production and progress logs and begin to put everything onto my blog including finishing off Task 4 to a proper standard. I also create a survey to collect results about my game.

For the next week I plan to finish off my documentation.

Mon W/B 01/06/15(Detailed Weekly Summary)

I collect the survey results and put them together as well as do my evaluation and finish off any unfinished parts of any tasks. Then I make sure everything is okay and I send the game out and record footage of it to put up as evidence.
