Sport: We know it’s good for us. It brings us together, and teaches us teamwork. But what about those of us who aren’t any good or just don’t like it? Are we missing out? This fast-paced, funny, interactive show has just been performed at the National Festival of Youth Theatres in Scotland. Volcano Youth Company is building a community of daring young people who will become the next generation of performance innovators.

Begin the reinvention of opera by working with a composer and two young opera singers to explore writing for operatic voice. This workshop will focus on what you want to hear and how you want to make it. The amazing result will be performed on Friday evening.

The first RawFfest Film Council presents short films by young people. Carefully selected films show new and emerging talent from Wales. Participants will reach out to new creatives both online and offline after watching their masterpieces! The films range through performance, documentary, fiction, experimental, art and animation. (This event is suitable for musicians, agencies and organisations that need film makers to help create new material.)

An introduction to game making from Matt Rogers, producer of BBC Wales' award-winning Doctor Who Game Maker. Taking its inspiration from Roald Dahl's 1954 short story "The Way Up To Heaven," young people have created a 'scratch' performance especially for the festival. You will descend in the lift to the dark world of Mr & Mrs Foster. Dahl was a genius at the "twist in the tale" and this story is one of his best examples.

The Dark Side of Tredegar House

Tredegar House on the edge of Newport has never been an ordinary household - dark arts, riotous parties, war heroism, crocodiles and crucifixes. "Time passes. Listen. Time passes.” Torch Youth Theatre bring their original piece of theatre inspired by Dylan Thomas' 'Under Milk Wood.' Set in Pembrokeshire, they have discovered the characters, places and stories behind the people.

Is there something you are passionate about and want to get off your chest? For 5 minutes the microphone is yours. Only limits: our vision is for an inclusive festival. We’ll pull the plug on anything that denigrates others (e.g. is racist or sexist) or uses offensive language. We kick off with "Young, transgender and Welsh."
