Organic farming program
Introduction to the Program
The ever increasing demand for organically produced foods requires new and
different production systems. In order to create such sustainable organic
production systems, a fresh scientific approach is needed. Faculty of Agriculture,
Ain Shams University has created a program to train academic professionals who
want to work in this field.
This applied program aims to provide unique and profession-oriented education
opportunity BSc level graduates and to produce well-trained organic agriculture
for the needs and benefits of the community. An important goal is to prepare the
students for interdisciplinary teamwork at an academic level.
The proposed academic standards for this program are based on the National
Academic Reference Standards (NARS) for Agriculture and national
requirements and international standards.
Graduates of this programs have job opportunity in a wide range of agricultural
firms: Consultant in organic farms, quality assurance officers, agri-business firms,
inspector for certification organization, research institutes and stations,
agricultural commerce organization, inspector for certification organizations that
monitor fair trade or organic brands and Marketer working to boost sales of
certain products or product groups in large retail or manufacturing organizations.
