V iolinist Yi-Jia Susanne Hou rose to fame on the In- ternational concert scene when she unanimously won three prestigious International Violin Competitions in France, Italy, and Spain (Long-ibaud, Lipizer, Sara- sate). Critically acclaimed as “absolutely phenomenal” by Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Ms. Hou has travelled the world as a soloist with major orchestras in over 50 countries, over 2000 performances, collaborating with world-renowned artists such as Rostropovich, Zukerman, Gilbert, Delfs, Janowski, and Trudel, and with orchestras like the Lon- don Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Radio-France, Or- chestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, SWR Stuttgart, WDR Cologne, Toronto Symphony, Singapore Sympho- ny, NHK and Tokyo Philharmonic. Her 2017-18 season was accompanied by the global release of two significant recordings and documentaries: “e Legend of Butterfly Lovers” and “Beethoven Violin Concerto - Love Strings Documentary.” Ms. Hou also frequents the radio and television waves across the globe, starring in numerous Documentaries in Canada, US, UK, China, and Japan for CBC, BBC, PBS, Bravo!, ShanghaiTV, CCTV, and NHK. A graduate of e Juilliard School, Ms. Hou is a passion- ate advocate of classical music education and believes it provides the ‘missing key’ to our education today. Her new Global Education Initiative” called “3-degrees” – launched in 2017 – offers early classical music program- ming for schools with underexposed/underprivileged students, and a mentoring program for aspiring Young Artists.
