ApplicationsThe compact speed monitor is an analogue evaluationsystem for monitoring rotating or linear movements. Espe-cially in the field of conveying technology it can be usedfor various applications, for example for the monitoring ofbelt conveyors or bucket elevators. Here it is typically usedto monitor if a speed falls below a preset value and tomonitor blockage or standstill.The units can be used according to group II, category 3D,zone 22 (non-conductive dusts).

AdvantagesThe compact speed monitor incorporates the completespeed monitoring, because the evaluation electronics andthe sensor are integrated into one housing. The switchpoint is set using a multi-turn potentiometer. Hysteresisand start-up delay are fixed.The 3-wire units can ideally be used for the direct connec-tion to a plc, whereas the 2-wire units can also switchsmall relays and contactors on 230 V AC.

Functions

The integrated sensor is damped by cams or other metallictargets.On the basis of the time interval between damping theevaluation unit determines the period duration or the fre-quency (actual rotational speed value) and compares it tothe set switch point (preset value). The output is switchedduring the start-up delay and when the rotational speedexceeds the set switching value.A green LED signals that the output is switched, a yellowLED that the sensor is damped.
