FI(D)S/AODB INTERFACEYAS is especially developed to interface with the FIS and/or AODB with maximum flexibility. The YAS will automatically process all flight updates. Users of the YAS can view and control the stream of incoming messages (created by the FIS, mobile phone or e-mail) by means of a state-of-the-art user interface. Furthermore, users can at any time, change or delete messages manually. Processed messages will turn into announcements and will be broadcasted at the right time, at the right place with the assigned priority.

PUBLIC ADDRESS INTERFACEThe YAS - Public Address (PA) interface is developed to communicate with a different number of Public Address Systems. The interface design allows Airports to create a reliable connection between their new or existing Public Address System and monitor all traffic between the YAS and the PA-router.

ZONE VISUALIZERZone Visualizer is a feature, which enables users to select or deselect individual zones by using one or more graphical maps of the Airport. When creating an announcement these Airport maps are presented on a screen showing all the zones that have been activated by default. This can be done by selecting or deselecting a zone through clicking or touching the screen.

PRODUCT The Yap Announcement System (YAS), is a multilingual, virtually automatic, high quality announcement system, based on the human voice. The database of messages, Airlines, Airports, destinations etc. is upgraded and updated continuously. The announcements generated by the system roughly fall into two main categories:

AUTOMATED FLIGHT AND AIRPORT RELATED MESSAGES: can almost entirely be generated automatically through linking it to the FIS (Flight Information System) and/or the AODB (Airport Operational Database).

GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE (GUI) AND USER EXPERIENCE (UX) The Graphical User Interface of the Yap Announcement System (YAS) is a state-of-the-art solution and is designed according to the latest demands on user friendliness and flexibility (UX). Therefore operating the system is straightforward and user friendly, especially when a touchscreen device is available. As the users will experience, the system works very intuitive and will simplify the announcement creation process significantly. This new software offers the possibility to use any desired language as the operating language, therefore Airport staff will be able to operate the system in their native language.

By means of clock controlled announcements and ad hoc created announcements you can warn, inform, calm down and instruct your passen-gers according to the Airport safety policy. QUALITY AND PRONUNCIATION OF THE ANNOUNCEMENTS The announcements of the YAS are produced by native speakers which results in a pronunciation of announce-ments which is substantially better than in situations where local staff produce announcements. With less sound volume the YAS provides you with a superior quality and audibility.

TRAFFIC FLOWS OF PASSENGERS International passengers have a better understanding of announcements as they are informed in their native language with a clear pronunciation. This manner of communication will result in a better flow of passengers to, from and between the gates.

LESS UNNECCESARY ANNOUNCEMENTS The YAS allows you to choose several audio zones so that the announcements will be broadcasted in designated audio zone(s). This reduces unnecessary announcements in the other zones. The YAS can easily broadcast different announcements at the same time in different audio zones. The automatic time and priority selection ensures that the right announcement will be announced at the right time in the selected language(s).

COST AND WORKFLOW REDUCTION The number of announcers can be reduced significantly by Yapsystems, which will lead to substantial cost reduc-tions. MANAGEMENT REPORT The management report function makes an automatic journal in the database of all announcements that have been made in the languages they were broadcasted. By means of this function, usage statistics can be monitored and a specific announcement logging can be used in case of legal issues.

FAVORITES The YAS has an extended content of different announcements. By means of a favorites function it is possible to allow individual users of the YAS to select only those announcements that they use frequently and move them to their favorite’s folder. Based on a user-id the YAS shows a personal configuration. This way a user, who is respon-sible for all messages at the gates, can personalize the navigation tool and create only gate announcements. Therefore the YAS can be applied in a flexible way at every location at the Airport.
