AUTOSORB® iQ-MP/MP-XR, iQ-AG Premier, high performance, one or two port surface area and expanded-range pore size analyzer. Very small micropore range possible by virtue of high-vacuum, turbomolecular system and precision low-pressure transducers. MP model has 1000, 10, and 1 torr transducers, MP-XR mod-el uses 1000, 10, and 0.1 torr transducers. Metal O-rings and gaskets in critical measurement zones assure ultra-low pressure capability. Very low surface area materials can be analyzed as standard (ASiQ-MP/MP-XR only); already krypton-enabled, no upgrade necessary. Accuracy assured by dedicated reference (saturation) pressure transducer. Includes two, independent preparation (degassing) stations. Degassing is optimized by inclusion of vapor cold-trap, intelligent PC control, and access to patented, oil-free high vacuum system. Leading-edge data analysis soft-ware included as standard, for demanding research application (DFT, NLDFT, QSDFT, GCMC, and classical methods). Available as standard (but upgradable) surface area/mesopore size analyzer with non-turbo vacu-um system (Autosorb iQ-AG). Additional options are available for specific applications (see Chemisorption and Vapor sorption, P3).

AUTOSORB® -6B High throughput surface area and pore size analyzer, bench top or floor-standing. Maximum flexibility thanks to six independent sample ports - different sample types and analyses accom- modated at one time. Dedicated equilibration pressure transducers and Po cells on each station. Intelligent operating algorithms automatically adapt to different samples to maximize produc- tivity. Automatic data logging, calculation of re- sults and report generation by intuitive, power- ful PC software. A range of accessories and prepa- ration units to match individual lab needs is avail-able (see Accessory Degassers, P6).

QUADRASORB™-SI/SI-MP/Kr

Versatile, four-port surface area and pore size analyzer. Operates in both patented helium-free and classical modes, even at the same time on different ports! Sample independence assured by individual transducers and coolant baths, unique analysis types and even different start-times. Optional krypton capability (for very low surface area materials) and micropore range possible by virtue of high-vacuum turbo pump system, precision low-pressure transducer, and metal to metal seals where appropriate. Also, 2 and 3 station versions are available. A range of accessory sample preparation units match indi-vidual lab needs (see Accessory Degassers, P6).

THERMOELECTRIC CHILLER / HEATER Ideal partner for Quantachrome's gas pycnometer, the Ultrapyc-T 1200e, a density analyzer equipped with built-in circulation coils with an external port for connection to a circulator-style thermostat. The peltier does away with having separate heating and cooling elements and the associated refrigerant compressor, and so the new circulator is better matched in size ( width 30.48 cm x Depth 30.18 cm ) and thermal specifications to the pycnometer.

THERMOSTATTED CIRCULATOR Allows gas sorption measurements to be made at temperatures from below ambient to as high as 100°C. Consists of refrigerator unit and heater / circulator. Optional use with Autosorb, NOVA and Quadrasorb.

CRYOGEN STORAGE DEWARS

For the convenience of having larger quantities of liquefied gases on hand. Quantachrome offers storage dewars in sizes ranging from 5 liters to 30 liters, plus a transfer device and trolley for the larger sizes.

CRYOCOOLER Sample thermostating option for the Autosorb iQ, iSorbHP, and Autosorb1. The CryoCooler not only allows gas sorption studies over an extended tem-perature range from as low as 20K (Autosorbs) all the way to 300K, but also removes the need to use cryogens especially the less common such as liquid argon (for studies at 87K for example). Moreover, the lack of need for liquefied gases allows the Cryo- Cooler to run indefinitely without having to stop the experiment to refill the Dewar, therefore eliminating the major restriction for long term analysis on those materials that require extremely long equilibra-tion times.

(a) PoreMaster 60/60GT can analyze pores as small as 0.0036 µm while the PoreMaster 33/33GT can analyze up to 0.0064 µm.

(b) 0.018 µm pores can be analyzed with 3GZh model only.

Pore size can be analyzed by gas sorption as well as the techniques described in the following table. However, as the size of pores become wider (larger than 400 µm), the gas molecules cannot fill up the pores completely, making them impossible to accurately analyze with this technique. In order to perform these measurements, new techniques were developed over time to account for these larger pores, which involved the use of liquids, which could easily fill up the pores in question.
