Japrotek Oy Ab is an expert in pressure vessel technology and focus on project deliveries for all the markets throughout the World.

Japrotek’s main products are reactors, pressure vessels, leaching autoclaves, columns, heat exchangers, large storage tanks, equipment for nuclear power plants, including agitators. The company specializes in design and manufacturing of demanding constructions and equipment where special materials like titanium, nickel alloys and clads as well as stainless and duplex steels are the raw materials.

Japrotek Oy Ab is one of the few companies with own design and manufacture of process equipment and thereby capable of taking the responsibility of the complete units.

The operations in Pietarsaari begun in the late40’s and were from the very start focused on the fabrication of stainless steel equipment. Later on titanium and nickel alloys wereincluded in the program.

Our business has always been export orientatedas 50-70 % of our production is exported. Ourmain customers are chemical, hydrometallurgical, pulp&paper and otherprocess industries and power generators in Finland, Scandinavia and the German speakingcountries but we all the time export worldwide.

Japrotek is specialized in the design and manufacture of large and complex pressurevessels and tanks. We are located close to the deep sea harbour and can ship items

80 m long or 9,5 m wide in one piece on ocean-going ships. We are familiar with mostinternational vessel codes and have beenapproved by several national pressure vesselsauthorities.

The main part of the pressure vessels we deliverare designed and manufactured according to the European Pressure Vessel Code or the ASME VIII.1. We can also adopt other national codes.

Our QA-program is certified according to ISO 9001 and our welding processes according to

ISO 3834-2. We are holders of the ASME U-stamp. Our environmental system is certifiedaccording to ISO 14001 and our health and safety routines to OHSAS 18001.

We are Achilles-approved suppliers to the North Sea oil industry.

MaterialsJaprotek works are in principle clean shops, where carbon steel is not cut, ground or welded.

We work in all stainless steels and nickel alloysbut today the bulk is made up of the differentduplex grades. Titanium is an important material

for us. When needed titanium work can be separated from the rest of the workshop. Leaching autoclaves and other large highpressure vessels are built from titanium cladcarbon steel whereby the carbon steel framework is subcontracted .

The workshops are laid out for effective and exact assembly and handling of long and complex columns. Trays with exacting requirements on horizontality can be installed in standing-up column sections. Columns even 75 m long or 9,5 m in diameter can be transported in one piece to the close-by deep sea harbor.

The columns are equipped with internals and trays manufactured to customer specifications or types available on the market. We perform stability calculations including wind and seismic loads.Japrotek has a long experience of manufacturing absorption, distillation, oxidation, extraction and other columns for the production of hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, alcohol, cellulose and many other processes.

Various types of highly engineered pressure vessels for performing a chemical process step or a phase conversion is the most typical vessels designed and manufactured by Japrotek. The size varies from smaller than 1 m3 to more than 250 m3 with pressure up to 100 bar. The vessel mostly is equipped with heat transfer surfaces such as internal pipe coils or thermo channels and external half pipes, limpet coils, dimple jacket or full jacket.

If needed the vessel with internals is ground to mirror finish and electro polished.

Almost all reactors are delivered with an agitator designed and dimensioned for the pressure, temperature and mixing process at hand.

Japrotek is one of few companies capable of designing and manufacturing large high pressure leaching autoclaves for the hydrometallurgical industry where all internal parts are titanium or nickel alloy.

The autoclaves are equipped with Japrotek heavy-duty titanium or stainless steel autoclave agitators meaning that Japrotek can deliver a functioning process unit.

Japrotek can manufacture even the largest TEMA-type tube and shell heat exchanger.

For more than 40 years Japrotek has built large stainless steel site-erected tanks and towers at pulp and paper mills and at their pigment and chemical suppliers. We have built tank farms on all continents.

The tanks are built in any austenitic or duplex stainless steel and are delivered complete with top mounted agitators.

Prefabrication process

Japrotek has developed and perfected a process for prefabricating tank parts in the workshop through which the major part of the welding work can be performed and tested using mechanized methods under controlled and exact working conditions. All transports to the erection site are made with normal trucks or ISO sea containers.

The advantages over traditional site-welding is better and consistent weld quality. Site assembly of the parts is swift and can either be part of our delivery scope or be made by competent local erection crews under Japrotek supervision.

The tanks are tailor made to customer requirements and normally designed and manufactured according to EN 14015 standard.

Japrotek has delivered equipment to all nuclearpower plants in Finland and Sweden such as tanks, pressure vessels, spent fuels racks, gas washers, reactor internals, heat exchangers etc.

We made a significant delivery of large pressurevessels to the Olkiluoto 3 project.

Throughout its history Japrotek has supplied the chemical and metallurgicalindustries with tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc. built in titanium.

Many of the tanks and vessels in the process industry are equipped with agitators. Japrotekis one of very few companies that can supply both tanks and agitators and manufacture to form a functioning process unit. We are able to

offer a complete line of both horizontally and vertically mounted agitators for energy-effective stirring of even the largest storage tank as well as high intensity mixing of reactors at high pressure.
