SSSSA Carnival

On Wednesday the 28th of May, 2014 a bunch of girls, Mr Clift, Mickey Pain and Mrs Peters went down to Port Lincoln to participate in the SSSSA netball carnival. Mrs Peters drove the Hiace bus, we left at 8 am and arrived in Port Lincoln around about 9:30am. We started with our usual warm ups before a netball game.

The first game was against St Joseph’s, whose coach was Mrs Montgomerie. In the first half we played a close game with St Jo’s up by 7 goals. It was in the second half when St Jo’s started to play their game. They played a brilliant half and at the end of the game St Joseph’s had won. C10, St J 22.

The second game we played was against Navigator College. Cowell played a brilliant first half keeping Navigators to only scoring one goal. We played way better than our first game due to the fact that we had now woken up. It was the second half that Navigators took the lead. They started picking up the loose balls and made the most of their opportunities. Final scores: Navigators 12 and Cowell 10.

After the first two games we had a break. They put all of the teams into pool and we were put into pool C. The third game we played was against Cleve. We were determined to win and started playing to our game. We were scoring off of all our centre passes and turning over a lot of theirs. In the end we had finally won our first game with Cowell on 25 and Cleve on 6.

In our last game against Tumby Bay we were determined to keep winning to win overall in pool C. We stuck it out through till the end and played another great game. Scores were: 20 Cowell Tumby Bay 11.

At the end of the day we had won our division of Pool C. On the way back from Port Lincoln we stopped at the foreshore and we went to McDonalds. We also stopped at Tumby Bay to have a look at the marina.

On behalf of the girls who went to SSSSA we would like to thank Mrs Peters for organising the trip up to Port Lincoln, driving us up to Port Lincoln and umpiring the games, Mickey Pain for coaching us and Mr Clift for scoring and supporting us.
