30 Years CETA – from Salesman to Manufacturer and Solutions Provider for

Leak and Flow Testing

When CETA was founded 30 years ago, a lot of companies had just begun to realize the

importance of leak-testing to control the quality of their products during manufacturing. The

demand for leak testers was rapidly increasing, recalls Günter Groß, managing director of

CETA Testsysteme GmbH. After initially selling the leak and flow testers of another manufacturer,

Günter Groß soon decided to develop his own test devices. Since then, CETA Testsysteme has

established itself on an international scale as an expert for thorough routine testing in

production lines.

Highest-quality Test Devices "Made in Germany"

CETA Testsysteme is based in Hilden. Over the years, the facilities for engineering and production

have been expanded several times. CETA's physical test devices for leak and flow testing in

production lines are used with compressed air and hydrogen (forming gas).

All over the world, well-known industrial customers from various sectors – such as automotive

and medical technology, fittings and household appliances – use our test devices to control the

quality of their products. Right from the beginning, the essential components were designed in-

house – in accordance with the requirements of the market and the customers.

To satisfy its own and the customers' high quality standards, CETA has been certified according

to DIN ISO 9001 since 1999. In 2002 the company was awarded the NRW Quality Prize for the

industrial branch. CETA's credit rating has been consistently granted "excellent" since 2012. The

calibration laboratory was accredited in 2004 by the German Calibration Service (Deutscher

Kalibrierdienst DKD) and in 2014 by the German Accreditation Body (Deutsche

Akkreditierungsstelle DAkkS), successor of DKD. DAkkS calibration (in accordance with DIN EN

ISO/IEC 17025) meets all requirements of the norm IATF 16949 valid in the automotive industry.

"We are the first German manufacturer to deliver all leak testers first with standard DKD and now

with DAkkS calibration certificate,“ explains Dr Joachim Lapsien, sales manager of CETA

Testsysteme GmbH.

The range of leak and flow testers has significantly grown since the early years and has been

extended to include gauge and high-pressure devices and diverse special solutions. Through

cooperation with a specialist of gas sensing solutions, a special type of leak detector for testing

gas and liquid-filled products was added to the portfolio. This comprehensive range of products

allows detection of leak rates down to 10-6 mbar*l/s with high process reliability, for example to

test impermeability to bacteria and viruses.

"Customers appreciate our long-standing experience, our high level of expertise in test solutions

and project handling as well as the durability and high quality of our test devices“, said Günter

Groß. The sale of test devices is only the end of a rather lengthy process. Solutions are worked

out after extensive clarifying discussions with the customer. To supply the best suitable device, it

can be necessary to make preliminary tests with the customer's test parts. CETA test devices are

used by thousands all over the world. To ensure local customer service, CETA has set up and

trained an international cooperation network currently counting more than 14 partners.
