KEMPINSKI HAMBURG OPENED ON 2 MAY, 1909 AS A GRAND HOTEL FOR

— THE HOTEL —

It is much more than a hotel: the history and the guest list of Hamburg’s most legendary and traditional hotel reflects its relevance in the social life of the Hanseatic city. Today, the magnificent white building is one of Hamburg’s landmarks. Whether as a destination for international stars or a setting for James Bond (in “Tomorrow Never Dies”), the Hotel Atlantic is an institution.

Two and a half years after the most comprehensive refurbishment in a century

began on this landmark hotel on Lake Alster, the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg is ringing in a new era in 2012 with 245 completely renovated rooms and suites that present a new modern and elegant style.

In tune with the hotel’s ethos of "Individuality, Tradition and Inspiration", this five-star luxury hotel is taking its rightful place among the leading luxury hotels of the city and of the world.

The perfect synergy of a high level of service and the personality and grace of a grand hotel have made the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg one of the most prestigious hotels not only in Hamburg but in all of Germany and indeed the whole world, both as a place to stay and as a venue for high-end congresses, events, and banquets. The hotel is ideally located on Lake Alster, just a few minutes’ walk from the main railway station, the city centre and the trade fair centre. This location makes it the

perfect vantage point for accessing Hamburg’s wealth of business and leisure opportunities.

The hotel is a landmark that is both lively and charismatic; a venue for people to meet and interact, for Hanseatic culture and joie de vivre in the heart of the city, and has been for more than 100 years.

A symbiosis of elegant carpets, silks, and premium quality materials such as Macassor ebony, Murano glass and Carrara marble create a luxurious ambiance of wellbeing. All this is combined with modern art and designer furniture. The hotel commissioned 254 pieces of original art by Hamburg artists Heinke Böhnert and Carsten Westphal to adorn the rooms. The nuances of colour and decor on all four floors were inspired by the Belle

Époque and Art Deco eras and pay homage to Hamburg, which is and has always been a “gateway to the world”.

All 188 rooms and 33 luxury suites provide the ultimate in grand hotel comfort; up to four-metre high ceilings create a feeling of spaciousness in all rooms and many of the rooms still retain their original historical stucco features.
