Presented by :
Miss. Alkhathlan ,Areej
Theme of talk
• Introduction• Defining the problem. • Podcasting.• Why podcasting?• Research ( tool-Data analysis- results-
recommendations)
Introduction
• Technology based Educational reform.• Digitalized students.• From distant learning to mobile learning.• Learning a foreign language
Define the problem
Insufficiency of speaking skill among Saudi students.
Define the problem
• We want students to speak!
But !!! Some Students:
Sts are apprehensive and hesitant of pronouncing new words correctly.
(no practice)
students are not given the chance to practiceTeachers complain of TIME . to (listen or practice).
The need of audio material to be available for students 24/7 and enough time to practice.
Podcasting
Podcasting Pod Cast
Derived fromiPod
Derived frombroadcast
Radio = broadcastsPodcasts = narrowcasts

why podcasting?
why podcasting?

Podcasts downloaded on a phone
Aim of the research
• Two groups (Controlled and experimental)
• To measure the efficiency of using Podcasting in enhancing speaking skill by testing the hypothesis:
there are differences in having clear statistics among the average scores of the two groups.
Data analysis
Data analysis identified different results. The performance of the experimental group used the (Podcasting) method was better than the
performance of the group using the conventional/traditional method.
Data analysis
Differences between the average of the experimental and control group in the post test
Results
• Data analysis ensures the effectiveness of podcasting in enhancing speaking skill among students of ESL.
• This result agrees with results of other researches like (Sze,2008) ,(Moreira &Menez,2009),
( Cenin, McCullough & Reynold,2007)
Results
• Self pace learning students (Individualized Instruction)• Students build their own learning Constructivism.
(piaget,1934).• Allow for student creativity in assignments and develop
critical analysis (Bloom)
• More motivation and self esteem.
Results
• Engage the students with “their” technology• Encourages cooperative learning. (team work)• Suits all learning styles.• conduct alternative assessments of students,
beyond the traditional tests and reports.• PBL (project based learning) activities .
Recommendations
• Review computer skills and software needed for production process.
• Define the purpose of the Podcast.• Brainstorm potential topics for the Podcast with
students.• Produce rough scripts with students.• Record the Podcast content• Edit recording in audio editing program.• Post content to Internet and RSS feed
