The use of vignette allows the audience to identify with the sense of foreboding that is created and ultimately her death.

The use of binary opposition, (under and over exposure of her face compared to the shadows created suggests the notion of innocence) – this is often associated with young females.

The use of dark lighting reflects the role of the antagonists and suggests what may happen in the narrative – and present the character functions of the antagonists.

The use of the special effect creates the tension in the narrative and connotes to the audience what the narrative will reveal about each of the characters.

The character functions of the males shows that the character wearing lighter clothes could be peer pressured into his role and it can forebode his later change in functions.

The dark clothing of the males suggests that they may be characters in the narrative that would later cause harm to the protagonist.

These characters could present a particular role of gang culture and activity.

Stats: 98% are male, Aged between 12-25, Gang members tend to be engaged in a wide range of criminal activities, highest prevalence of gangs found in areas with high levels of deprivation, unemployment and lone parent families².

• The music allows an eerie aspect to the film, this can present a group that likes dark, gory films.

• The pitch of the music in certain areas can present the growing fear in the protagonist with the thoughts of what might happen to her and this also reflects upon her being vulnerable.

• The music used in the background to the antagonist was used to represent his character functions which presents the idea of a gang member with the particular style of the music.

The clothing can be used to represent the same role in different films of the same genre.

• Gang members can also be glamorised with suits, jewellery and expenses.

• They can be organised crimes.• The use of time in their crimes is

more subtle and longer compared to my film.

• They hire other people to do their jobs as they feel it is needed.
