MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Once again, another term of the year has come to an end. The children had learned the theme of ‘My Country, Singapore’. Activities planned for the term has certainly taught and exposed the children to be responsible and patriotic citizen, as stated in our mission statement.

The past three months were packed with meaningful events and celebrations which have certainly helped the children in their holistic growth and development. Nonetheless, do look out for more activities and events coming up in Term 4, where we will be focusing on the themes ‘Transportation’ and ‘Animals’.

Last but not least, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our supportive parents, especially our PSG team for their enthusiasm in participating and contributing to the centre’s events. Thank you also for planning and making the Teacher’s Day celebration for our dear teachers, a blast. Let us work towards more collaborations in future events!

Children from childcare as well as the infants were all dressed up with their different traditional and party clothes. Children

celebrated the event with fun filled activities to showcase the culture in Hari Raya. Our guests, Nanyang Polytechnic’s very own

‘Pusaka Seni’, were invited to dramatize the significance of Hari Raya.

We had a spectacular Father’s Day celebration.

All the fathers were invited to a superhero themed party to show

our appreciation to their efforts and support in

their child’s development. Our fathers were spontaneous in

participating in the activities!

The children are never to too young to show their preparedness in facing emergencies. During National Day celebration, the children became the soldiers, medics, police officers and fire-fighters as they performed real life scenarios during crisis. The children showed enthusiasm in the different activities for them. Special thanks to PSG for their support in the event.

Children were able to experience the day-to-day life of people who are differently abled. Through various activities, the children got to experience moving around without one part of their body. We hope that through this, we are able to create awareness and care towards the differently abled individuals.

The K1 and K2 children were invited to perform in the Jalan Kayu Fruit Fiesta. The children were very eager and showed their groove to the song “In The Summertime”. Parents too give their full support to their

children’s performance. It was a terrific experience and the children had the

opportunity to taste different kinds of fruits in the event.

The N2 to K2 children participated in the Active SG Athletics Festival. They gave

their best shot at the different kinds of obstacle

activities.

This enhances the awareness on having a healthy lifestyle through exercising and the

importance of sportsmanship.

The K2 Dragons children had a visit to Edgefield Primary School. During the visit,

the K2 children had the opportunity to experience a tour around the school. They also sat in the classes to experience having

lessons in a primary school setting. The children enjoyed participating in the

different activities together with the primary school students. Thank you Edgefield SCC for

accommodating to us!

Children from Edgefield Student Care were able to spend time reading story books to the K1 and K2 children. This programme is part of the National Library campaign to

inculcate the importance of reading habits in the young children.

It was a memorable 2 Day 1 Night camp for

the K1 and K2 children. Some highlights for the camp were the Nature’s

Quest at Sentosa and the campfire. On day 2, the children presented their focus topic to the

other groups!

The Teacher’s Day celebration was co-organized

by Parent Support Group. With the theme of “Retro”, the teachers took their time

to dress up to the fashion back in the 80’s. The

teachers had fun participating in the games such as “Don’t Forget the

Lyrics”, and “Dance Challenge”. A photo booth

was also set up for teachers to have their photos taken as

mementos from the event.

Fun with Water Play!

During this activity, our little infants were able to experience water play

with their peers. They were exposed to various floating rubber baby animals. This activity helps in

enhancing their social skills as they interacted with each other through babbling. Apart from that, they also

used their fine motor skills to squeeze the animals using their

fingers.

Wheel Printing The children were given toy trucks

dipped in paint to produce the tracks. The children will be doing it

independently.

Finger Printing The children dipped their fingers into red paint and paint it on the red flag to commemorate National

Day.

Gloop Activity N1 Trolls were amazed with the

activity as they explored and discovered the texture of the gloop

when they touched it.

gambar alat tersebut. Murid-murid juga menggunakan lidi

sate untuk menghasilkan bentuk angklung.

小船》，通过手工来学习交通工具（船）。并锻炼小朋友们的手脑结合力，使幼儿对华文产生兴趣。

Mari bermain Angklung! Murid-murid membuat

angklung menggunakan lidi sate dan batang aiskrim. Mereka

juga belajar cara untuk menggoyangkan angklung.

Children chose a transportation. They named and talked about the mode, colours and shapes of the

vehicles. This activity helps to improve children’s vocabulary skills.

N2 Pixies were engaged with the different traditional games such as ”chapteh”,“ teng-teng” , five stones, pick up sticks and “kuti-kuti”.

Bertemakan ‘Sukan’, murid-murid meneroka permainan bola sepak. Murid-murid menggunakan

kaki mereka dengan menendang bola dan juga belajar bermain bersama-sama dengan mengambil

giliran masing-masing.

Children created a Singapore Town by covering milk boxes with construction

papers to create the buildings. Children came up with great group work

and shared their thoughts like: "Lets put the hotel near the airport”.

"When I fly on a plane, I need a hotel to stay in after that."

Children enjoyed playing a variety of traditional

games. They tagged along with their friends to play pick up sticks, “chapteh”,

hopscotch and many more!

Ways To Get Kids To Go Outside

Tell them it’s okay to get wet, dirty, and messy.

Organize an outdoor play date. Take your kids and a

few of their friends to a park.

Allow your kids to incorporate natural resources into

play equipment. Examples might include tree stumps

for jumping off, boulders to climb and sit on, logs to

practice balancing or climbing.

Set a timer for a maximum amount of screen time.

Have your kids spend less time watching TV or using

the computer.

Plant a garden or flowers with your child.

Explore nature with your children far from your

home. Include outside time in nature on your next

holiday

Park a few minutes from school and walk with your

child. Point out the colors of the natural world around

you and watch them play with sticks, rocks, and leaves

along the way.

Go for regular walks, runs, or bike rides in natural

settings as a family. Many urban communities have

trails and bike paths through parks, river ways, or

lakefronts.

Have a picnic dinner at a playground or park.

Gradually increase the level of independence your child has

outdoors. Start with going up and down the street, to around

the block, and progress to the nearby playground.

Organize a play group that meets after school for snack and

playtime. Meet other kids and parents at a field near your

child’s school and bring a soccer ball.

Create an outdoor scavenger hunt where your kids collect

items from nature (or try this nature ninja scavenger hunt for

a twist).

Give your children a jar and have them catch bugs.

Make mud pies at the beach or in a sandbox.

Each weekend explore new areas of your town or city

as family. Make it your mission to visit as many

different parks and playgrounds and find your

favourites.
