iLife ‘09Preparing iLife ‘09
iLife ‘09 iLife is an amazing suite of applications that enables
us to do all sorts of amazing things.
The suite consists of: iPhoto, for working with digital photos and images; iMovie, for creating amazing movies; iWeb, which we can use to create and publish our
own Web sites; iDVD, for building our own DVDs, complete with
sophisticated menus and effects; GarageBand, with which we can create and manage
music and other audio.
1) Installing iLife ‘09 If we’ve purchased a Mac after January 2009, it already has
iLife 09 installed, so we can move ahead to the next section.
If we got your Mac before that, we need to install iLife 09 on
our computer.
1) Insert the iLife Installation disc into our Mac’s drive.
2) Double-click the iLife ’09 installer.
3) Click Continue.
4)Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

4) Backing Up iLife ContentMuch of the content we create or use with
iLife applications is literally irreplaceable at any price.
This includes our photos in iPhoto, movies we’ve created in iMovie, and so on.
We should make sure we have an effective backup system in place to protect this content.
One of the best ways to do this is through Mac OS X’s Time Machine feature.
To use Time Machine, weneed to connect an external hard drive to your Mac, and then configure Time Machine to back up to it.

Restoring Other iLife ContentTime Machine backs up your files, even those
that aren’t in iPhoto. So, if we find some content we’ve created,
such as a movie, missing from our desktop, we can recover the missing files by going back in time to a point where the missing files still existed.
