1. Overview

1.1 General Information

The iLife application is an advanced home automation and remote access app developed

by HDL to control and manage HDL Buspro devices. Its programming allows both IOS and

Android devices to control HDL automation solutions and household appliances.

1.2 System diagram

Ensure that the diagram shown below is followed.

Page 6: UserManual - COMM-TEC...UserManual iLife iLife–UserManual 3 Steps: Toenableremotemode,followthestepsshownbelow: a)Clickonthelefttopcorner“network”buttonandselect“remote”mode

1.3 Communication modes

The iLife application supports Local communication, Remote communication, and P2P

communication.

a) Local:

The most basic method of controlling the system is through local communication. To

enable this, a user should connect to the same WIFI network as the iLife system. The

local connection method is the default method used.

b)Remote mode:

The remote mode is designed for users who wish to control their automation solutions

while they are away from home. The settings for this mode can be found on the HDL-1IP

module. To learn more about remote mode please refer to the SB-DN-1IP user manual.

Page 7: UserManual - COMM-TEC...UserManual iLife iLife–UserManual 3 Steps: Toenableremotemode,followthestepsshownbelow: a)Clickonthelefttopcorner“network”buttonandselect“remote”mode

User ManualiLife

iLife – User Manual 3

Steps:

To enable remote mode, follow the steps shown below:

a) Click on the left top corner “network” button and select “remote” mode

b) Input the project name, user name, and password. The data that is input must match

the data entered into the 1IP module.

c) To save your changes click on “Connection/Save”.

C) P2P:

In this mode, you will be able to access the HDL Buspro system directly through Internet,

using HDL-BUS Pro software. But remember this mode requires fixed static public IP for

both ends, so its not suitable for end-users.

2. Configuring the software

Before the iLife application is used, the application must first be configured. This must be

done using the iLife Editor this allows a user to create, configure, and program a project

which can then be uploaded to iLife ( Android /IOS )

2.1 Changing the device ID

The default subnet and device ID for the IOS version of iLife is 3/254, this designation

is unchangeable.

Page 8: UserManual - COMM-TEC...UserManual iLife iLife–UserManual 3 Steps: Toenableremotemode,followthestepsshownbelow: a)Clickonthelefttopcorner“network”buttonandselect“remote”mode

User ManualiLife

iLife – User Manual 4

The default subnet and device ID for the Android version is also 3/532, however this

designation can be changed.

2.2 Main Interface

2.2.1 Create a project

Before any configurations, you will need to create a project on iLife editor.

You can create a new project, delete or rename an existing project and browse the

database folder of the project

When the application is activated, the above window will appear. Enter the project name in

the space provided, and then click on the “create new project” tab.

2.2.2 Main interface

When the “create new project” tab is clicked, the below interface will appear. This interface

contains all of the major features commonly needed.

3.1 TV

The iLife application allows you to control your TV without using a traditional remote

controller, all a user needs is a HDL device which is capable of transmitting IR code e.g :

Page 13: UserManual - COMM-TEC...UserManual iLife iLife–UserManual 3 Steps: Toenableremotemode,followthestepsshownbelow: a)Clickonthelefttopcorner“network”buttonandselect“remote”mode

IR emitter, 8in1 sensor, 12in1 sensor………...

Steps: In order to accomplish IR control it is necessary for the iLife system , user needs to

‘learn’ the codes from the original IR controller by IR learner. Once this is done a user will

be able to control their TV from their Android or iOS device via the iLife TV page.

1) Set-top Box

Steps:

To control a television via IR, it is necessary to check that the targets UV switch number

has been entered into the UI in the TV Page.

Options:

Single:Allows a user to modify a single row

Multi-line:Allows a user to modify a multiple rows at the same time synchronously.

Auto Accumulate:Allows a user to modify a single numeric value, which causes any

following numeric value to progressively increase. As an example if you configure line1

subnet ID as 1, the following lines will be 2,3,4, etc.

Save Button:Enables a user to save any changes they make to the system. Any changes

made must be saved in order to be implemented.

2) Favorite Channel selection

In the program selection tab, users are presented with the ability to select their favorite

channels. This hastens switching to and from them, and prevents any unwanted channels

being accessed. In addition to this channels can have their ‘channel numbers’ shortened.

Add program:To add a favorite channel, click on the blank area and enter a name, then

click the “Add” button to add a new channel.

“Show” checkbox:If this option is ticked, the iLife application will display the channel

name and the icon, if ‘Show’ is not selected iLife will only show the icon.

Delay time: A delay between each new command should be set, although the user can

choose their own time, a delay of 1000ms is recommended.

Channel Icon modification:To modify the channel icon, first select the channel, and then

Page 15: UserManual - COMM-TEC...UserManual iLife iLife–UserManual 3 Steps: Toenableremotemode,followthestepsshownbelow: a)Clickonthelefttopcorner“network”buttonandselect“remote”mode

3.5 DVD

The configuration process for the DVD player is the same as that of a television. To control

a DVD player it is necessary to use a HDL product capable of transmitting IR codes.

To control a DVD player it is first necessary to program the iLife system with the IR codes

for the DVD player, this is done through the IR learner.

3.6 Curtain modules

Two types of curtain modules are available, the standard version and the advanced

version:

To control the curtain It is important that “parameter 2” is correctly configured, it should be

as shown in the above screen shot (ON-OFF-STOP).

3.7 Background Music

The iLife application can work with the Z-audio module and MZBOX, the features that can

be controlled however are dependent on the firmware version of the Z-Audio module.

a) Above V4.03: If the firmware is V4.03 or above, iLife can read and display the

playlist automatically. If new songs are added the system should be refreshed so

they can be updated to the play list.

b) Below V4.03: if the firmware is below V04.03, iLife will be unable to display the

music list unless it is manually entered into the iLife editor.
