Excavators, tunnel boring machines, harvesters, transit buses and other heavy machines work around the clock, often in rugged, hazardous environments. Highly flammable fu-els, oils and hydraulic fluids flow through pressurized lines within inches of super-heated en-gine blocks, manifolds and turbocharges. With ANSUL A101, LVS, LTA and the Twin Agent Fire Suppression System, however, protection is assured, 24-hours-a-day, 365 days-per-year.

What is a pre-engineered system?A pre-engineered system use pre-designed components to eliminate the need for engineer-ing work beyond the original product design. In the case of Vehicle Fire Suppression Sys-tems all the main components are pre-engineered; such as the agents tanks, actuators, detec-tion and distribution components. All these components are built into a system that is tested against specific standards to operate within specific parameters and then approved accordingly by an approved testing authority. The pre-engineered components are then supplied to ap-proved and trained authorities to install such components onto equipment as a complete system.

In today’s commercial kitchens, higher temperature cooking oils and high-efficiency, slow cool-ing appliances such as deep fat fryers have combined to make fire suppression more challeng-ing than in years past. The heart of an ANSUL Restaurant System is its ability to quickly detect and suppress fires. Ansul R-102 and Piranha systems use advanced extinguishing agents to en-sure rapid flame knockdown and vapour securement. Cooling these high efficiency appliances after initial flame knockdown is critical to eliminate reflash and minimising restaurant downtime.

KNOW YOUR EXTINGUISHERS

All extinguishers are furnished with detailed ‘‘Instructions La-bel’’ containing valuable in-formation. The label contains information on installation, use and maintenance of the ex-tinguisher. The extinguisher label also contains specific in-formation on ‘‘HOW TO USE’’ the particular extinguisher. The label instructions vary ac-cording to type and size. All operators should be totally fa-miliar with the instructions on any extinguisher before use.
