Partner–in–Faith Prayer Heavenly Father, we ask your blessings and protection on the people of Sacred Heart Parish. We, your children at St. Patrick’s, invoke your name on their behalf. We are grateful for all you have given us and in return we are mindful of those who have less than we do. Bless us all and keep us close to you. May the example of your Son, Jesus Christ, be the strength that will make us one in you. This we ask
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. .
The following weekends are available for flower donations in loving memory of someone or for a special intention. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements (234-3344).

TODAY’S COLLECTION FOR CCHD The collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. MY INSTALLATION I think that the installation went very well and I
want to thank all those who were involved. For an unusual liturgy and the dinner that followed it takes a lot of people who are willing to pitch in. So many mentioned that they had never experienced the Installation of a Pastor before. The Book of Blessings gives two different ceremonies for this rite: when the Bishop is doing the installation or when a Regional Dean presides. Of course, mine had to be more difficult because Bishop Dominick Lagonegro is an Auxiliary Bishop and not the Ordinary. Therefore, elements of both rituals given in the Book of Blessings had to be combined. After the homily – or was it a roast? – actually it, too, was a combination; Monsignor Thompson then read the Letter of Appointment and Bishop Dominick commended me in the Cardinal’s name to you as your new pastor. He then introduced the members of the Parish Council and the Lay Trustees of the Parish. The symbols of the Office of Pastor were then presented to the Bishop who then gave them to me. These symbols included: symbolic keys, the Book of the Gospels, a Baptismal shell, a purple stole, and the Blessed Oils – The Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism. The Bishop then invited me to lead the people in the Profession of Faith (the Creed) which was followed by the Oath required of any priest becoming a pastor. After I signed the two required copies, the Bishop then placed me in the Principal Celebrant’s Chair and the installation was complete. I promised then and I promise again to be the best Shepherd I can be in light of the only Good Shepherd who is Jesus Christ our Lord. Blessed be God forever!
THANKSGIVING: As we prepare for Thanksgiving it is always beneficial to remember to whom we are giving thanks. Please make the Grace Before Meals meaningful for your family and if possible come join us at the 9:00am Mass on Thanksgiving Day. It is a civil holiday but joining around the Table of the Lord before joining around the table at home makes our Thanksgiving more complete. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving.
High School Youth Group The High School Youth Group will meet tonight, November 20th, from 6:30 to 8 pm in the Church
Meeting Room.
Words of Pope Francis FAITH WORKING THROUGH LOVE
“The Church community asks each one of us to be consistent with the gift of the faith and to undertake a journey of Christian witness. And we all know that in life it is not easy to maintain consistency between faith and testimony. But we must carry on and be coherent in our daily life. ‘This is a Christian!’ not so much in what he says, but in what he does, and the way in which he behave. This coherence, which gives us life, is a grace of the Holy Spirit which we must ask for. The Church is a community constituted to confess a faith which operates through love. They go together! Rooted in Christ through baptism, we must humbly and courageously profess faith in him, witnessing to it in love."

The Santa Project For well over a decade, the people of St. Patrick’s Church have “adopted” a poor family from the Mott Haven Section of the Bronx and played Santa at Christmas. It is a wonderful opportunity for our families to share Christmas joy with those who are less fortunate. If you are interested in participating, an early response would be greatly appreciated. The staff at the Dominican Sisters Family Health Service (a community-based agency at 279 Alexander Avenue in the Bronx), has requested the following: ● One family gift, a blanket (full or queen) ● One article of clothing for each child (size will be
indicated on the Santa Letter) ● A toy or game requested by the child (indicated
on the Santa Letter) If you would like to participate, a letter of instruction with the “wish list” for each child will be mailed to you. Please call Chris Zagajeski at 845-582-0657 or email at [email protected]. If not in, please leave your name, full mailing address, size of the family you would like to adopt (the number of children 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5). All gifts should be brought to St. Patrick’s School gym between 9am and 4pm on Thursday, December 8th. Please do not drop off gifts any sooner as there is no one who can accept
them before that date.

Children’s Mass Nativity Play This special Mass is celebrated each year
specifically for St. Patrick’s Families with children 10 and under.* During the Homily the children re-enact the Nativity story.
If your child would like to participate, your child and a caregiver must attend the first rehearsal on November 29th. Please DO NOT sign up your child unless they are able to attend all four rehearsals.
There are many speaking and non-speaking roles to choose from. All children Pre-K and up are encouraged to participate in the play. Speaking parts will be given to older children. If there is more than one volunteer for a specific role, it will first be assigned by grade level. If there are multiple volunteers in a grade level, the name will be drawn randomly. We are also trying to include musicians this year – so if your child plays an instrument consider signing them up!
To sign-up or for any questions, email Brittney Tanzi at
[email protected] If your child would like a speaking part, let
Brittney know before the first meeting. All other parts will be decided at
the first meeting.
