1. CHANDANA’S STORY
I am Chandana and I have completed my studies in B.Com. My father’s name is
P. Lakshmi Narayana and my mother’s name is P.Ramadevi.
I have one brother and two sisters. My brother is studying in the 10th Standard
and my one sister is studying Degree 1st year (B.Z.C.) Group, and my other sister is
mentally retarded. I come from an agricultural family and belong to the
Pothulakunta village. We have ten acres land that
cannot be cultivated due to no rains and no water.
My father does not work and therefore my mother
works as a coolie to provide food for all of us.
I studied at the Siva Sai Degree College in
Kothacheruvu. One day a PRDS Staff came to our
college to screen a film-show and distributed PRDS
pamphlets. Thereafter my friends Umadevi,
Malathi, Lakshmi, Vaishnavi and Sukanya and I
decided to join PRDS to learn computers, tailoring
and spoken English courses.
I am the oldest daughter in our family and I wanted to get a job and earn money.
But jobs are not available here because of a lack of factories or industries to work
in. I searched for work but to no avail. Then PRDS Staff advised me to join in
DDUGKY (Dheen Dayal Upadyaya Grameena Kousyla Yojana) scheme conducted by
Indira Kranthi Patakam (IKP) Anantapuramu. This is a three months course
conducted by Central Government. After completion of this course they provided
jobs in Bangalore. Uma, Shabana, Supraja Chandrakala, Sravanthi all of my friends
have attended this course. We are very grateful to the staff of PRDS. We are now
working and earning Rs. 10000/-per month. We are very happy with our jobs and will
never forget PRDS.

My name is Aruna. I come to know about the PRDS when they conducted a Rangoli
program in Kesapuram village. I also participated in Rangoli competition and have
won a prize. It is the first prize I have ever won in
my life and all my family members were very happy
with me. The Sankranthi festival was brought into
the hearts of the people with the organization of
Rangoli competitions. Rangoli competitions have
increased the glory at the festival in our village. I
attended meetings conducted by PRDS. PRDS are
performing a great service and they work for the
development of values and ethics in the people. I
belong to an agricultural family but due to the scarcity of water we cannot cultivate
our land and have financial problems. At that time I joined here to learn tailoring
and computer courses and now I am working as a school teacher. I learnt many
things in PRDS. Coming from an Agricultural background I did not know much about
the Society. After I joined here I learnt communication skills and changed my life
style. I am very grateful to the PRDS.

course here. She explained about PRDS very nicely.
Then I came and met PRDS Staff and asked all the
details. I was joined here for computer and
tailoring courses. I learnt computer and tailoring. I
came here and learnt both courses in 6 months.
After learning I sat at home and thought about my
future. I have an ambition to buy a machine and I
want to earn money. After marriage I don’t have
children for a long time. Then we went to the
doctors for checkup. For that we spent lakhs of
rupees. We took loans from others for treatment.
Now we had a son but we have to pay back all the
loans. It is burden to us. My husband salary is not
sufficient to pay the loans. We are leading our life
very hardly. At that moment PRDS staff called me
and said that learn how to stitch models of dress
tops. It is very useful training and we earned little
amount. Ms.Jaya was by given this training. After
that I bought a machine and I started stitching
others clothes to earn money. But in villages they won’t give money properly. One
day I came to the PRDS office and asked about job opportunities and I was
explained my problems to PRDS Counselor. Then she advised me to join in Mailepalli
garments, immediately I was joined. Now I am earning Rs.4000/- salary per month.
After taking first salary I felt very happy. Now I got self-confidence and I can
clear all the loans. Now I am very much gratitude to everyone who helped me.
