Tibet Tiandi Green Beverage Co.: Prepared for future opportunities Tibet Tiandi Green Beverage Co. produces several beer brands from its two breweries and bottling plant in the region. Total current annual capacity is 2.1 mhl of beer and 21 million litres of soft drinks. NIRAS developed a dynamic masterplan outlining the brewery’s long-term development plans, considering growth opportunities, products and sales as well as its ability to meet market demand through an efficient production organisation.

Using NIRAS’ advanced computer model, Dynamic Master Plan, we analysed different scenarios, including for rice and malt silos, the brewing process, the bottling department, storage facilities and distribution. It links existing data with the need for investment in new equipment, machines and buildings. The masterplan is dynamic and always fed with the latest data, giving the customer a constantly up-to-date plan of possible scenarios.

The masterplan gives Tibet Tiandi Green Beverage Co. in Lhasa a con-stantly up-to-date plan of possible expansion scenarios.

We perform audits that reduce operational costs, and we identify the needs and timing for investments. When needed, we use simulation software to optimise complex production facilities. Simulation provides a strong, clear link between design and operation and shows how changes will affect your daily operations based on actual production plans, whether driven by operations or by invest-ments.

AB InBev:Expanding capacity in South Africa (2017)

AB InBev’s Rosslyn Brewery is one of South Africa’s largest breweries. Following a masterplan developed by NIRAS, the brewery is being expanded to meet AB InBev’s future growth projections. The latest phase of the expansion programme involves building a third brewhouse with a capacity of 750 hl at 14 brews a day. The new brewhouse project also includes new raw materials handling capacity for malt and rice, a new wort line, increased yeast handling capacity as well as new spent grains silos.

NIRAS is leading the engineering and functional tendering of the above activities. Our tasks and responsibilities include:

• Reviewing the capacity and the high-level process scope

• Finalising the detailed scope to be used for tender, including layout drawings, PFD, and control and automation integrati-on requirements

• Preparing tender documents for issue to suppliers

• Supporting tender adjudication and supplier selection and contracting

Carlsberg:A brewery relocation and greenfield design (2017)

Carlsberg Deutschland is about to move its historical brewery in the city centre of Hamburg in Germany to a nearby industrial site. With a production capacity of one million hectolitres and total footprint of over 50,000 m2, the crucial success factor for this type of greenfield project is to optimise both production and logistics.

NIRAS’ first responsibility has been to coordinate the design of the brewery, process and packing facility, which has involved close collaboration with Carlsberg Deutschland’s project management team. An important goal has been to reuse equipment from other breweries in the Carlsberg Group and from the existing brewery site.

NIRAS has until now assisted with mana-ging of tenders and negotiations with suppliers as well as providing engineering follow-up. Our tender model and methodo-logical approach has helped ensure that suppliers will live up to all requirements and that the project meets its time schedule and budget.

Experience and knowledge of the industry ensured an easy relocation of the historical brewery.

More than 2,000 NIRAS experts are currently working on more than 7,000 projects globally

NIRAS is leading the engineering and functional tendering activities for the expansion.
