implements innovative initiatives to achieve our environmental objective: “To decrease our environmental impact as the business expands.” We have a target of0%WASTE-TO-LANDFILL (currently below 1%) and hold both FSCand PEFCaccreditation. CARBON BALANCED PRINTING, SINCE 2012.

Potts Print (UK) is committed tocontinually reducing the carbon footprint of the business and its operations, as part of its ISO14001 Environmental Management System.

In May 2012 we became the first Carbon Balanced Printing Company in the North of England.

The full carbon footprint of the entireoperation was measured by the EdinburghCentre for Carbon Management (ECCM),and the carbon impact was offset by the conservation of endangered tropicalrainforest in association with the WorldLand Trust. We have conserved 97,500square feet so far.

Our process goes one step (or one giantleap!) further than companies that offercarbon balanced materials.

CARBON BALANCED PRINTINGPotts Print (UK) works with a local recycling company to manage wastematerial. In a 6 month period, landfillhas been reduced to under 1% of allwaste material produced.

Our aim is to recycle (or convert to energy) all waste material produced and reduce the figure to 0% landfill.

As part of our corporate social responsibility commitment, some waste paper is donated to local schools and community groups for use in creative activities.

We offer FSC and PEFC certified materials to our clients, including recycled options.

No alcohol in the presses means no alcohol down the drains. We run completely alcohol-free presses in our lithographic printing facility.

Otherwise known at CTP (computer toplate), this technology uses a thermalprocess instead of chemicals to produceplates for print.

ALCOHOL-FREE PRINTINGConventional inks are petroleum based and use alcohol based solvents,which emit harmful Volatile OrganicCompounds (VOC's) when they evaporate. We use vegetable based inks instead.

Our waterless Presstek DI digital offset press prints cleaner, sharper images with less dot gain and greaterconsistency, while also being better for the environment.

CHEMISTRY-FREE PRINTING WATERLESS PRINTING

All staff are encouraged to switch offlights, chargers, computers, printers andappliances when not in use. Investmentin new Apple iMac's and a virtual ‘Wyse’PC infrastructure has reduced our energy usage. All machines are EnergyStar rated.

All new company cars and delivery vehicles have low-emission diesel engines. Vehicle emissions are offset as part of our company-wide CarbonBalancing initiative.

EFFICIENT ENERGYA simple idea that rewards groups of staff for using one car to travel to work, instead of one car each. This has become a popular way for all staffto contribute to CSR as well as the company's environmental aims.

Potts Print (UK) is working towardsISO12647 accreditation. This colourmanagement system benefits the environment as well as our business and clients, by ensuring accurate andconsistent colour matching, which reduces waste.
